May 18, 201115 yr Hiya fellas,I've done 2 flights now from EDDT to EDDH (Berlin to Hamburg), and in both cases RC doesnt ask me to contact Approach for vectors, rather I just get contacted asking if I have the latest ATIS and which Approach am I wanting. Now Hamburg is a major airport with several ILS runways so I would've thought I'd be given a vectored approach to the active. Can anyone help? I'm using RCv4, FSX Win7, 64bit.Cheers,Rory
May 18, 201115 yr If it is just EDDH then I would suspect a scenery database error. Be sure you rebuilt your scenery database from within RC after installing the latest makerwys.exe from the links in the pinned topic above. You may as well update fsuipc.dll as well.If you still have trouble in your RC\data folder make a safe copy of r4.csv. The using wordpad (not Excel, etc.) open r4.csv. (Do not save any file.) I have an older FS9 version of EDDH from Aerosoft GAP installed. Search for EDDH. Here are my runway entries in this case all with ILS or LOC runways as noted by the 11x.xx frequencies:EDDH,0050,53.618244,9.963663,53,51.250,10639,110.50BG,151,-1.000,53.627575,9.982580,978,,EDDH,0150,53.654408,9.975185,53,153.830,12007,111.35BG,151,-1.000,53.639755,9.987869,0,,EDDH,0230,53.636906,10.001497,53,231.250,10639,111.50BG,151,-1.000,53.627575,9.982580,509,,EDDH,0330,53.625103,10.000553,53,333.830,12007,109.90B,151,-1.000,53.639755,9.987869,1463,,Runway 33 is localizer only.Approach should automatically assign a runway to you. After you ack you can optionally request a different runway or IAP (not vectored approach). When loading your flight plan go to the RC Controller page and insure there is an approach frequency listed.Run a test with a default aircraft and FS with no other add-ons running. I've never heard RC ask me for a preferred runway. RC chooses a runway first based on AI activity (if using UT2 set its AI spawning to maximum) followed by weather and runway criteria.
May 18, 201115 yr Moderator I've had the same problem albeit many moons ago. The reason is because there is no Approach frequency in RC for Hamburg. The same will happen for any airport without an Approach frequency. The best solution might be to enter the Bremen Radar frequency into the Approach frequency. 124.22.You need to edit the file containing the airport frequencies. I don't have access to my RC machine but from memory it's the f5.csv in data. Always open it with NotePad - never Excel. Ray (Cheshire, England). May 19, 201115 yr Ray is correct. Bremen Radar is both Approach and Departure for EDDH. Here is how to make the change permanent in RC:With RC closed, go into your RC\data folder. Highlight f4.csv with the mouse. Do a copy followed by a paste into the same folder so you have Copy 2 of f4.csv. Rename that copy 2 to something like f4.csh.Right click on f4.csv. Click Open With and select notepad or wordpad from the list. Do not select always open with this file since the .csv extension is used for database programs.Search for EDDH. You will notice the line ends with 0,0 Type over each of the two 0s at the end without adding any spaces, etc., with the frequency 134.250 . Make sure there are no spaces or extra end of line characters. The line should look like:EDDH,Hamburg,123.12,0,121.75,126.85,0,0,134.250,134.250and in the full context here's the same with the line before and after:EDDG,Munster-Osnabruck,127.17,0,121.87,129.8,0,0,0,0EDDH,Hamburg,123.12,0,121.75,126.85,0,0,134.250,134.250EDDI,Berlin - Tempelhof,126.02,0,121.95,119.57,0,0,121.05,120.62Save the file as a text type but retaining the name as f4.csv. Refresh to view in Win Explorer and make sure the name is still f4.csv .Open RC and load your plan. Go to the controller page and make sure you have the radar frequency now for departure and approach. Those last two frequencies represent approach and departure and in this case they are the same.To keep things realistic for some airports because of terrain and other issues, sometimes only Center radar is available. In this case they will set you up to get you as close as possible and then clear you for either an assigned approach or an approach you conduct yourself usually from the IAF (Initial Approach Fix). These are shown in the airport IAP charts. In this case I looked at real world charts from Eurocontrol. Registration is free:http://ead-website.ead-it.com/publicuser/public/pu/login.jspIt is difficult to navigate but basically you Enter Applications, Select AIP Light, and a search screen will open. Select the Authority (Country Code), Civil (or military), Language, AIP Type as Charts, Part as AD and click search. Advance to the first page that has your airport code. Look at the available titles on the right but click on the .pdf file link on the left. After the .pdf displays save the file with a meaningful name. Save other charts as you wish the same way being sure to check the next list page to insure you have saved all relevant charts for this airport. These are current charts and your FS scenery may not use the same navaid frequencies. RC's comm frequencies are fixed and not necessarily current. That is why we suggest just use the Autotune option in RC.Hope this helps.
May 19, 201115 yr Author Thats very informative, thanks to both of you. I'll edit as shown and then do the flight again and report back. Once again many thankyous!Rory
May 19, 201115 yr I, always, fly to EDDH and I thought it was a feature! Anyway, thank you for the info. Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
May 19, 201115 yr Moderator I, always, fly to EDDH and I thought it was a feature! Anyway, thank you for the info. Some call it a feature. Others call it a PITA! I'll leave you to work that out. :smile:Thanks for filling in the gaps Ron. Ray (Cheshire, England). May 19, 201115 yr Author Thats sorted it guys! Just repeated the flight and was given the vectors. A big thankyou!! Ray, I'm still trying to work out what a PITA is/means!Cheers,Rory

I'd better modify my own files so I don't hit this problem the next time I fly into Hamburg. :( Ray (Cheshire, England). May 19, 201115 yr If you need a temp fix on the controller page you can check the box for the missing frequency and a default will be entered that you can edit. Unfortunately that does not save the data between RC sessions.

June 1, 201115 yr Hi,I have set the frequencies as is posted here. But I get an CTD when tuning into ATIS of EDDH. Now, I try it with a different freq, just to check if that solves it... Regards, Torben Hadler
June 1, 201115 yr I see you are in Europe. Be sure when editing in frequencies in f4.csv that you you using a period (.) for decimal demarkation, not a comma. If FS itself is crashing it has a bug where if certain frequencies are sequentially repeated it causes a crash from atc.dll. If you are using FS9 and do not need FS ATC (AI keeps working) then try entering after making a safe copy of FSUIPC.ini (in your modules folder) in a folder outside of FS, edit the following line into the General section of FSUIPC.ini:RemoveATC=YesFS does not like you at times using another ATC system while its own is active. That is another thing attempted to be fixed by this change.I am not sure if these apply to FSX.
