Can you suggest some tweaks?

I'd see if you can get with Bejote for fastest results as he has experience with a broad range of GPU capabilities and may be able to get close to what would be best for your config of fsx.cfg.You can still get it from here: http://www.4shared.c...Limiter_02.htmlAfter that you will need to check here on avsim doing a search and there is alot of discussion about proper setup which is required. You will need JAVA installed to use it fully. You may be able to dispense with JAVA as long as you have the exe installed correctly, and use a batch file like this operating by default at 30:start C:\"FPS_Limiter\"FPS_Limiter.exe /r:D3D9 /f:30 /x:OFF /l:OFF "F:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe
Noel,Bjote published a FPS limiter that does not need java to work. It can be found here:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/322993-alternative-external-fps-limiter/page__hl__fpslimiterDo you think I should try this one or the Java one is better? Thanks

Bert, are you completely contradicting my recommendation because of his i5 Duo? I know the suggestions I made are very valid for many Core 2 Duo and Quads, but I have heard not necessarily so for his CPU type.
Sorry, did not mean to contradict you, just to offer another option.Let him try both and see what works best for him..I flew with the limiter for quite a while, before deciding that limiting fps in FSXactually gave me better results.. It all depends on what and where you fly..

Hi Bert, I wasn't seeking an apology I guess I chose the wrong word again! Just wondering if it was common knowledge with this gen of processors that the approach I proposed was not the best choice. It probably depends very much too on your exact hardware mix.

I don't know how his works. The only thing I can attest to is that the one I'm using works and does exactly what it's supposed to, which for me is to allow the sim to run internally in UNLIMITED which has stated benefits at least in my setup, plus it stops surges in the video which is a problem I have when I run w/o it. You could try both and see. The one I mentioned isn't hard to make work, but his looks easier.

The external FPS limiter is extremely easy to set up and I have to tell you that you were spot on, the external FPS limiter indeed does make a difference when it comes to FSX FPS. I am now getting an average of 24-27fps at some airports such as ATL and JFK. Most importantly, I am not upping the FSX Prioroty on and getting these impressive framerates for a system like mine. The limiter has a render ahead feature and its by default locked to 25fps, I move it up to a 30fps cap because it works best for me. Another, benefit that I think is because of this is that I notice that my MBP is not getting as hot as is used to. Is this because of the FPS limiter? Anyways thanks for your assistance...

Great, sounds better. See if you can work with Bejote and maybe he can recommend some settings to optimize fsx.cfg for your video card's capabilities. I have a decent but getting dated video card which sports 1Gb of video ram and 512-bit bandwidth and the settings he directed me towards really helped smoothness and texture update rate significantly butI am assuming your video card will need quite different settings since specs appear quite different:The GTX280 I'm using:GPU Engine Specs:CUDA Cores 240 Graphics Clock (MHz) 602 MHz Processor Clock (MHz) 1296 MHz Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 48.2 Memory Specs:Memory Clock (MHz) 1107 Standard Memory Config 1 GB Memory Interface Width 512-bit Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 141.7 ---------------------------The GT 330M you have:GPU Engine Specs:CUDA Cores 48 Gigaflops 182 Processor Clock (MHz) Up to 1265 MHz Memory Specs:Memory Clock (MHz) Up to 1066 (DDR3), Up to 800 (GDDR3) Memory Interface Width 128-bit
