June 6, 201114 yr #25Maybe I´m stupid, maybe I´m too demanding, maybe I´m just not "touchy-feely" enough for this, but the guy - ryanbatcund - make´s error, upon error, deleting the W7 install partition, the small ugly, useless one, so we delete it, yes, away with the annoying thing! Then he fumble around and don´t know that a disk needs to be initialized in the diskmanagement section...Oh boy, should I go on?Read #25 again and pinch yourself...I humbly suggest you ditch the attitude. Knock off the insults and have a little respect. Comprendre?
June 7, 201114 yr Author lol... I appreciate the support from everyone else. I'm guessing English isn't PFL's native language if so that's why we have this language barrier.Yes I deleted something I shouldn't have. No, I didn't know it was important. Yes, I'm a noob relative to PFL! PFL your attitude is very condescening. What that means is that you're writing replies to me without any tact, care, you're essentially trashing everything I write and I don't believe you've actually read any of my posts in great detail. Otherwise you would have posted helpful suggestions/comments, without spamming NickN's simforums post (FWIW it's been a bookmark on my browser forever).Listen, I'll say it again, I've built two PC's from scratch, and the first one was about 6 years ago. I had a friend right next to me showing me the ropes. This one I built myself. As you can see there is some user error involved - and I'm learning more things by helpful suggestions in this thread. I'm sure you've built many more than TWO PC's so perhaps you could think back to when you were a noob and then put yourself in my shoes.Things I've learned so far:1) Aborting a Windows install may leave data on the drive, even if it says it uninstalled.2) Data left on a drive would force Windows installer program to put the boot sector on said drive3) I should unplug all drives that don't pertain to the OS while installing.4) Don't delete what appear to be random Windows files on other drives (lol)5) I learned how to open the Disk Management program (and that it exists)! (cool stuff!)I'm sorry if you feel system builders should know this from day one but I sure didn't. June 7, 201114 yr ..., I've built two PC's from scratch, and the first one was about 6 years ago....Don't wait another 6 years for your next build EDITED: Forgot to mention that I did all kind of mistakes with my first build. And have made some other mistakes over the years. Best school around EDITED 2: Best advice. Plan a build carefully and never rush it. Planning is everything - the plan is nothing.I built my present system in januar 2009. I've updated with a better CPU cooler and graphics card since then. Still good enough system for FSX. So I'll wait for IB and the LGA-2011/X79 chipset based systems with quad-channel DDR3 memory. Looks like that will happen next year.Meanwhile: Will the AMD Bulldozer be able compete with the Intel high end systems? Edited June 7, 201114 yr by UlfB
June 7, 201114 yr Yes, I´m a condes-descending arrogant ######, sorry bout that! But hey, it´s only a PC, and only a stupid game right? My attitude is in that ballpark (can´t say that, english no good...) when I see people like Ryanbatcund, who I actually thought was an Ol´ FSX Fox (me english no good, again) do so many stupid mistakes, and then replying to my advise about Nick, that he´s always used his FSX set-up guide, since 2006, I believe it was..!!Unbelieveable...
June 7, 201114 yr Nag nag nag... So again, useful to Ryan's post??? Jeez... some people never get it right. You must be one Mister-Perfect, right? Every hair on its place, cut to the same length...? :Raised Eyebrow:
June 7, 201114 yr Author You must be one Mister-Perfect, right? Every hair on its place, cut to the same length...? :Raised Eyebrow:Hey now, some people like perfect organization lol! I can't fault him for that but I'm trying to figure out from his last post - it seems like he claims I don't follow Nick N guide - which I do! Maybe I should relax a little - all this time he's been trying to help, in a non tactful way HAHA! Yeah gotta be language barrier here! Have a nice day PFL!In the meantime, I'm waiting for FedEx to drop off a nice package argh! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
June 7, 201114 yr Of course, I´m an old Navy guy: If this forum is going to be of any qualified help to other people interested in hardware, and especially related to FSX, then some very prominent posters here have to up the standard, the Quality Control and QA so to speak...Right now there´s way too much guesswork, Ego-massage, political correctnes and trivial blah-blah-blah!

June 8, 201114 yr Author At any rate, I've mainly setup now... BIOS is booting from the correct drive for once (without errors yay!), I connected the SSD later and deleted the system reserved space like people suggested.FSX is a total ###### to load lol! Many moons of software...Actually Orbx stuff is the worst - so massive lol! But I'm making progress... then I just have to redo all my tweaks etc etc, and maybe I'll get up and running again | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

June 8, 201114 yr Would be a good moment for a "night cap" - watching the skyline in SinCity, and wondering: Did I offend some people today? Ok, Ryanbathound, remember to let FSX and Win 7 take some deep and nourishing breaths and pauses during all your heavy-duty ORBX installs!Nick mentions that again and again, reboot, pause, reboot, pause, you know like childbirth, deep abdominal breathing...Otherwise good luck to you, but be carefull with the SSD, maybe a firmware update is needed?
