radar non-functionnal

Featured Replies

Congrats for this excellent addon and the well deserved award !!Just a few questions :1) from the tuto page 85 : "Yes- the radar is non-functional- but give us time, we’re working on it…" are you still planning a SP2 with the radar feature implemented among others improvments (if any) ?2) it happens from time to time (randomly ?) that the diamond bearing pointer control knob (BRG) that controls the selection of OFF/VOR2/ADF2/LNAV on the ‘Diamond’ bearing pointer on the EHSI does not rotate on the F/O panel-side. When left or right clicked the knob does not rotate but the corresponding mode is selected. Everything is working fine on the Captain panel-side. Any idea ?3) when the props are set in the start lock position, they both return to feather after some time if the engines are not started up right away. Is that a normal behavior ?ThanksJean-Louis

1) They're planning on a SP2 for the J41, yes. I would assume no weather radar as they've repeated their stance against creating one fairly recently.2) Not sure.3) Normal behavior. Just put them back on the locks and you'll be good to go.

Jean-Louis,Regarding question 3: If the props are returning to feather for you, that means they are not on the start latches. You can unfeather them again, of course, as Mike suggests. If you're trying to put the props on the start latches using a throttle quadrant, you'll probably have little success...that's the nature of the compromises in the coding to get the engines working correctly in other respects. What I do during shut down to get the props on the start latches is to shut down both engines at the same time, then press and hold the F2 key when both engine RPMs are below 50%. When the engines are fully stopped, you can press the F1 key again to return the power levers to idle.

That's pretty cool if they are planning to include a weather radar, it would nicely complete what is an awesome aircraft. What other stuff is planned for SP2? Can't find any info on it here. I still fly this bird pretty much every time I start up FSX after owning it for more then a year, it still keeps me interested and busy. The workflow for startup and shutdown is second nature to me now but still is enjoyable and interesting to flying from different airports in all kinds of weather with different loads. Its taught me a huge amount about weight/speed that I didnt have to think about befor with other aircraft and a ton of stuff about engine management. I love preflighting the aircraft and getting everything ready and really I love flying precision and non-precision approaches totally by hand from as far as 30 dme away :) It just doesnt get old. Its a challange to operate but small and nimble enough to fit into interesting regional airports. I've only recently realised i've been flying in totally incorrect air temps for ages because of a bug in FSINN so now i'm really getting to grips with the anti-ice systems, another interesting feature of this great plane!

No, there will be no weather radar, they were working on it, but decided that it can not be coded to work realistically because of randomness in FSX weather engine and other stuff which Ryan could explain more clearly, but you can use third party Wx instead, JS41 is prepared for it.
