My gawd....what the heck did they do?!?!?!? WOW!
Significant loss in fps for me, down from 25-30+ to less then 10 now Have reset graphics settings all the way down to min but no change, no matter what I choose. Can't find anything else to change in Hydravision. My 2X HD4850 showing their age I guess, but I swear with 10.25 I had way better frames.

What Is Your Favourite Jet Route?
If you like mountains you'll love flying around New Zealand. I enjoy NZWN-NZQN a lot as the mountain approach to Queenstown is spectacular, Wellington also has its challenges.

Fresh Install Instruments dead/crashes
Ok realised that it wasnt initialising as I didnt have anything plugged into the audio jack....obviously the 737NGX needs an audio device to be connected during its loaded or it crashes.

Fresh Install Instruments dead/crashes
Have tried the xml fix in here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/347775-no-initialisation/ Still doesnt initialise at all :(

Fresh Install Instruments dead/crashes
Just installed FSX and Acelleration on a spare PC and ran the PMDG 737NGX installer. Then did SP1C update. The only other thing I installed was the VLC New Zealand landclass. Crashes and doesnt load instruments at all. The 737 loads but the cockpit is cold and dark, nothing I click does anything and after a few clicks it crashes FSX to the desktop. Windows 7 64-bit No other hardware/software/antivirus installed yet. Am logged in as a local administrator. What am I missing here folks have I done something stupid?

Taxi light operation
Yeah at night you can clearly see the area that they light up on the ground and the runway signs etc being lit up.
-
Taxi light operation
Aircraft here in Nz tend to use strobe lights to signify cleared onto the active runway, then landing lights on when they get the actual take off clearance. I've never seen them use runway turnoff lights except when actually turning off a runway :)

Slow climber?
This drove me mad way before the NGX arrived on the scene. FSINN would give crazy high alititude temp readings and make a lot of jets perform weird. Its weather simulation is crap. Now once i've logged onto VATSIM I just hit CAVOK and chose FSX real world weather.

My New RYR B738
Long haul in a 737....that must be a long flight for the crew. I wonder which of them gets the honour of making dinnner.

Ryanair Circuits
What speed should a typical VFR circuit be flown at in an empty 737?

Ryanair Circuits
I've been really enjoying flying the NGX in slow tight visual circuits for touch and go practice, makes good fun to setup some FMC waypoints and do it in total overcast IMC using the ILS and the HUGS at times. I was shared a nice chart from Ryanair of how they are taught to fly visual circuits so thought i'd share here:

Thrust in Engine #1 but not #2..
You can save the flight and the state of the panels to avoid losing all your preflight work, then restart everything and see does it reoccour.

Thrust in Engine #1 but not #2..
I had the same issue on one fligth last night Acez except I was sitting at NZAA :) Interestingly i have a Logitech Extreme 3D joystick too. I had loaded the PMDG House -800 with both engines running played around for a while then performed a restart. After doing all the checks, getting clearance from the VATSIM controller on at the time I tried to taxi but no matter what I did, no 1 wouldnt spool up. No 2 worked fine. I could even see the litle grey markers on N1 rise and fall with my joysticks throttle input, and both of the aicraft's simulated throttles move, but no 1 just wouldnt increase power. Also as mentionned by SgtMajor above, I had been playing with the ground power and ground aircon carts before starting both engines. If I used F2 on the keyboard both engines advanced as normal...go figure. When i next loaded the sim it was working fine and it hasnt happened since.

Initial Impression
I wasnt expecting the strobe effect at all. As I was ending my landing roll on the first night flight I realised what I was seeing, a little bit of strobe being reflected onto the tarmac makes for such a realistic effect. The landing light effect is also better then anything i've seen so far. I get way worse frame rates in the J41, this is performing very well considering its complexity.

NGX Download Speed - Surprisingly Fast!
Getting varied rates of 30-100Kb/s down here in New Zealand :)

Looks like we're back in business
Oh working now and downloading (40kb/s)

when
Ronan- some respectfull advice..... Whatever about your mood on that day and the circumstances, its a bit too much to post without thinking of the consequences. I wouldnt post that kind of stuff on a public forum, no way. At the very least I wouldnt use my real and or airline. This thread has already popped up on an Irish aviation board that I moderate, and it wouldnt read as good press to the media if I hadnt removed it. You certainly don't want it appearing on PPRune....threre are tons of journos over there. I can see the headline in the Sindo on sunday="Angry captain enfoces silence on terrified newbie". Youre putting a lot of info on the net about who you are and what you do, don't think there arent media types that won't exploit this if it gets to a more mainstream forum. My 2 cents...no offence intended...take it or leave it.

Does the NGX have a aft-cabine interior ?
All the interesting buttons and flashing lights are at the front, forget about the back! :)

J41 starting issues.
Is prop properly feathered with the little pump switch below the throttle? Did it have enough volts/amps to start, maybe something else was draining power?

Can the 737NGX be used for type rating training?
The fault lies with FSX itself...It could never replicate the "feeling" of flying an aircraft like a full motion sim can and doesnt quite have the fidelity of an approved FTD. But the PMDG 737NGX is the best training tool you can get for the money for practicing systems, procedures, failures and some handling basics, it will help a lot towards real world proficiency.

A 737NG just went down :(
Lucky everyone survived! News reports say the aircraft touched down "in middle" of runway. I'd like to read some more concrete evidence then that :) But yeah weather was bad so probably just an overun.

radar non-functionnal
That's pretty cool if they are planning to include a weather radar, it would nicely complete what is an awesome aircraft. What other stuff is planned for SP2? Can't find any info on it here. I still fly this bird pretty much every time I start up FSX after owning it for more then a year, it still keeps me interested and busy. The workflow for startup and shutdown is second nature to me now but still is enjoyable and interesting to flying from different airports in all kinds of weather with different loads. Its taught me a huge amount about weight/speed that I didnt have to think about befor with other aircraft and a ton of stuff about engine management. I love preflighting the aircraft and getting everything ready and really I love flying precision and non-precision approaches totally by hand from as far as 30 dme away :) It just doesnt get old. Its a challange to operate but small and nimble enough to fit into interesting regional airports. I've only recently realised i've been flying in totally incorrect air temps for ages because of a bug in FSINN so now i'm really getting to grips with the anti-ice systems, another interesting feature of this great plane!

J41 Cool down between legs
Hello all! I've been using the J41 for about a year now and its simply the best addon aircraft out there at the moment in my mind! I really enjoy short 1 hour or less hops between regional airports and I love flying through clouds and over nice sceenry rather then being up at FL35 with nothing to see. Its complexity and detail give me great pleasure every day, money well spent! A questions i've wondered for the last while is that what does the three minute cooldown period mentionned in the manual mean? After landing I pop the condtion levers to taxi and head to the gate then just shut down as soon as I get there. I don't see any noticable fast drop in EGT by idling for three minutes from toucdown so don't see any benefit to doing this. I only today seen some forum posts here discussing the method called the "ventilation run" to run the starter and cool EGT before start so I wondered is this what everyone does in between short legs to enable another flight to happen or what should the correct procedure be?
