July 2, 201114 yr I'm putting this topic because I noticed that after the updates my windows 14/06/2011 7 lost performance and is directly affecting the simulator. Start with maximum performance and then my FPS plummet .. this occurs after 2 hours of flight. I make flights that go from the house of 06h and had never given it. I have a good knowledge of the FS is 9 or X and still can not believe I've done some sewed wrong, 'cause even keep the same add-ons ever. Someone noticed this in your win7? My Windows 7 is the ultimate 64. I appreciate the help. I7 860 - HD5870 - 4G DDR3 1600Mhz - W7 Ultimate - FS USER SINCE'S 1994.
July 3, 201114 yr I installed the June 14th updates on June 19th and have not seen any reduced performance in FSX. Since then I have had one 2 hour 20 minute flight and three flights in the 3 hour 30 minute range.

It look like the new updates is slowing the computer. Like IE9 is total crap. It crashes all the time. I don't know - why can't microsoft finish their products before releasing them. They seem so lazy and monopoly attitude like. And FSX is beginning to realy chew again. Offcourse my FSX is tweaked and maybe all the tweaks now need to be updated. What a strife to keep that simulator going. Perform a Disk Defragment and Disk Cleanup (both accessible from the Start Menu), they usually give your computer an extra kick, if not then try finding a freeware Registry Cleaner. Sam. August 27, 201114 yr Was there a reason to update the OS in the first place? I mean, I'm building a new system now and am in position to install Win7x64. I'm hoping that these updates that were applied were not forced...there is a way to turn off automatic updates in the system, right? Please advise and thanks!Mark
August 27, 201114 yr Moderator Yes, you can turn off auto updates. It wouldn't be the first time a MS update has hosed a system. FWIW, this is my procedure. Auto updates are OFF Once a month, I do a complete backup - then I look at the current updates and apply ONLY the system updates. Do NOT let Windows Updsate your hardware drivers! After the update - reboot - and check for any additional updates - this is an important step because you may not get all the updates on the first pass. WHen all is well, I defrag the system. If there is any problem, I can always restore the backup. With the low cost of terabyte drives today there is no excuse for not having a copmplete image of your system, JIC.
