slow frame rate on final

Featured Replies

I flew PMDG 747-400X from FKSO to EDDF. I have my settings in FSX beteween Medium to High as to not to tax the frame rates, which will cause terrible frame rates id too many things set at high. I don't have many add-ons other than QW 757 and PMDG 747. On my flight, the frame rates were excellent from take off at KSFO all the way to EDDF, until I was on final approach at EDDF and the frame rates became really crappy! It was the same after landing and taxi to gate, making it difficult to control the plane on the taxi way. I don't know what caused this. Has anyone else had the same experience upon arrival from a long flight?Cray Foley

Did you tried to sit on a gate on Frankfurt with the 747 to see how the frames are?EDDF its known for being a FPS killer even in his default scenery. Also it will be more useful to see your specs. The best thing to do its to write it on your signature as well as you First and Last-name, that way you don't forget to write it each time

How did you get your signature? I must have missed a step.

Turning down traffic some may help. A sudden increase at an already frame-heavy airport could be your culprit.Just my $0.02 Big%20Grin.gif

The traffic was at an okay setting throughout the flight, just on final approach at EDDF it was bad. As the previous reply, EDDF has a bad reputation for its FPS even in the FSX default. quote name='MrKen' timestamp='1309805743' post='2010881']Turning down traffic some may help. There are certain areas/airports in the FS world that just kill performance regardless of what airplane you're in. (try KSEA and KATL too, also really bad)The best you can do to help with it is having a good CPU, preferably overclocked. Also try ******* Altuve's tweaking app - http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

Yeah try venetubo. With this i can run FSX with the MD11 on 25 fps in Frankfurt with a very lowend system... :(

Oh boy, I just checked the venetubo site and they want technical information about my computer that I have no clue what it is. I bought an HP Pavillion last spring, that is all I know about it.

Has anyone heard of "FSX Booster Version 2"? Apparently is supposed to improve FPS.

I recently installed "D3D9 AntiLag", which seems to have helped considerably. I set it to a target of 30fps, while keeping the FSX rate at "unlimited". My scenery complexity slider is all the way to the right. I am getting 30+ out of most airports (using the MD11), and 20+ from KSEA (I just loaded it up to see what I would find). More important...everything seems smoother. No more jumpiness during taxi, takeoff rolls, and landings. Considering I have a decent, but not top of the line system, I am quite satisfied.However....can someone help me with the proper settings while using ASE? That is causing a drain on frame rates, especially when overcast. I know that Ryan has mentioned that the NVidea cards are better in this respect compared to the ATI's, but since I am not about to buy a new card can someone make a suggestion?

Ron,Try *******'s Shader 3.0 mod in the Avsim library - that's the big problem with ATI, their cards don't handle old shaders well - FSX by default has nothing higher than Shader 2.0 in it. The mod makes the clouds, water etc use the newer Shader 3.0 system that ATI cards are better at processing.

Ryan,I can't find that file. I tried every combination. Do you have a link?Also....if I install that file, can I still keep the D3D9 antilag? Can they both co-exist at the same time?

Yes, the D3D9 thing has nothing to do with shaders - it's a Direct 3D hook dll that works with any game that uses Direct 3D 9.

William,Actually, I had found that file earlier. However, that link appears to be dead. Thanks, anyway.
