July 12, 201114 yr Seems cores#2 &3 must be doing the scenery etc and 1 is FSX main.Have I got that right?ThanksRick SWith AffinityMask set at 14,Core0 is mainly running Windows stuff (and an FSX "main fiber" which is not CPU intensive), typically light loadCore1 is running the heavy-duty FSX load, typically 100% unless you use an external fps limiterCore2&3 are running scenery/texture loading, load is variable If you stand still long enough, 2&3 will go to zero and activate once a minute torefresh the scenery lighting. If you are moving fast, 2&3 will be very busy. There is still no agreement on whether having two cores loading scenery improvessmoothness, or if the two cores get in each others way and cause micro-stuttering.I'm actually running with AffinityMask = 12 which uses only one core for scenery, and find it smoother than 14. July 12, 201114 yr Moderator I stand corrected, that is what I mean (however that's what I was told on flightsimforums).Yes, it's quite a common misunderstanding which is why I quickly made a comment. If you read these forums long enough, it is amazing what misconceptions people have about FSX!Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
July 12, 201114 yr What was 84 doing then?84 was doing wrong scheduling for FSX in HT-off configuration. It would have been correct if you had HT-on.84 basically told FSX to use 00101010 configuration, which would in HT-off configuration mean it used 0010****, so Core0 for fibers, Core1 for nothing, Core2 for everything else - main thread, texture loaders, Core3 nothing. Theory says basically that your Core0 should have been medium loaded, Core1 no load, Core2 full load, Core3 no load.
