Aircraft Installation Sequence

Featured Replies

Hi, I dont know how relevent this is but I did an Uninstall reinstall of FSX as per PMDG recommendations. All my airports, scenery, etc., are in place except my PMDG aircraft. There was a sequence of installation for FS9 and I wondered if the same applies for FSX as I am prepared to leave my addon aircraft out until the release of the 737NGX, even if this takes some time or can I still reinstall the others irrespective of the 737NGX.. Thanks for any replies. richard welsh.

I recall that this wasn't an issue for FSX. Was curious after my last re-install as well (JS41 and 747X), and from what I remember, it didn't matter.

Hi Richard,My FSX recently stopped working properly and i spent today re-installing everything. I uninstalled FSX but left all the add on aircraft in place, I don't have any add on scenery, but this is what happened, if it helps you. After re installation all the add on aircraft worked fine and were there, Carenado, Captain Sim, Flight One. The only ones which wouldn't work were Quality Wings and PMDG. So i uninstalled the these programs through the pc's control panel, "add/remove program". Then I ran FSX and re-installed them from disc or saved zip files, which i had archived. I ran the sim after each install to check the aircraft worked, and they did, they worked fine. Beware when you re-install FSX that you install the service packs 1 and 2 correctly if you need them, as you have to run FSX in between each service pack update, and actually fly somewhere, this is to set up the sims parameters correctly. As far as i understand it, add on aircraft in FSX are installed in the FSX program. Scenery can be saved anywhere in the PC's program files and FSX will find it, which would explain why your scenery was still present after FSX re-installation.I hope this is any help to you,Regards.

Happy Flying,

Dave Phillips.

Hi Dave, sorry but I think you misread my post, when I said I uninstalled FSX everything was removed. When reinstalling everything has been installed except the addon aircraft. Maybe I could have been more specific in my original post. My query was about installing the aircraft. richard welsh

Richard,I installed the NGX without regard to the other aircraft in my virtual hangar, and it works just fine. As far as I know, there's no "order of installation" required for FSX, and certainly nothing like that was called for for the NGX.

Regarding PMDG aircrafts, I prefer to install them in the order of release. The oldest goes first, just to asure that an older installer doesn't overwrite a file set by a newer installer and remove important informations for the newer aircraft.
