July 13, 201114 yr Captains,As always I apologize ahead of time if this has already been discussed; I have yet to see anything like what I am getting at. Anyways, I know that the 747 has a tiller that is used for taxi operations. Just to make sure, the 737 NG does not have a tiller, right? I was also wondering, is there any way to just use the tiller for taxi in the 747 in FSX? Another thing, during 737 NG taxi, does the rudder move? If there is no tiller, the rudder pedals must be manipulated, which also control the rudder of the airplane. The reason I ask is that on a recent trip to Newark, I noticed how some aircraft were turning during ground operations with no rudder movement. Any elaborations, comments, or corrections are appreciated below, as always.-Captain Morgan Captain Morgan Wiley Delta Virtual Airlines Delta Boeing 737-800 Senior Executive KDTW Hub Manager Real World Student Pilot Cessna 152 Pilot

July 13, 201114 yr There is tiller at NG, but you can control NWG with pedals as well, but with limited angle of movement. For FSX limitation, I dnt knw. Maybe they can make different command for tiller...Lj. Prodanovic Lj. July 13, 201114 yr Can the tiller be used only in the NGX instead of the rudder, or is it another FSX limitation? As far as i know you can map a joystick control to the tiller trough FSUIPC (registered), but i never tried it. So i don't know if doing that the rudder still moves. Matias SorcinelliCHECK MY CHANNEL!!! - http://www.youtube.com/user/masneoquil

July 13, 201114 yr I may be wrong but I believe this relates to how the animations were done. Typically, the rudder and nose wheel steering animations are tied together using same animation tag.. therefore, there would be no way to separate the two. Of course, this can only be answered by the Devs so hopefully someone will let us know. I'm curious too. They mentioned a time or two that they utilized every possible animation that FSX has the ability to do with the NGX. Jon Preston

July 13, 201114 yr Author FSX limitation relating to the nosewheel steering and rudder - they are not separate in the sim unfortunately. Thanks Ryan, I thought it probably would be. If PMDG had the ability to do it, they would. However, just like weather radar, FSX has its downfalls. July 13, 201114 yr Hi, I have a friend who has modified a "gamers" USB steering wheel into a steering tiller. He uses FS9 only, but I don't see why the same wouldn't work in FSX. He say's it makes a difference to steering on the ground and the initial part of the take-off role, as in real life, and is great fun.Alan Springett
July 13, 201114 yr Since we are on the topoic of taxi...Am I wrong, but wasn't it mentioned that during taxi, the wings would have flex like in a real aircraft?I'm not trying to high jack this thread, I just didn't want to start another regarding taxi. Thanks,Joe Inama Thanks, Joe Inama

PMDG implemented this into the MD-11, so I see no reason why they wouldn't include it on the 37. I never noticed that on the MD-11. :( Joe Inama Thanks, Joe Inama

July 13, 201114 yr It isn't impossible as A2A shows with it's B 377 Stratocruiser where you can select an axis in an extra program for the nose-wheel steering, But the rudder still also moves the nose-wheel so it isn't totally separated.greetingsStefan Rakel
