Weird graphics issue

This is also a symptom of not having FSX up to date with all the latest service packs.
That's negative, sir. The first thing I did after installing FSX was installing the two service packs, downloaded directly from Microsoft's website. The problem seems to have been that missing line.

I have this problem as well, only worse. All I see is the cockpit and bare ribs of the rest of the aircraft. Below is an extract from my .cgf file. Do I add the line SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=1,2 or 3 in addition to to the Shader_Cache lines as shown below or instead of those 2 line[GRAPHICS]SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693500672TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024NUM_LIGHTS=8AIRCRAFT_SHADOWS=1AIRCRAFT_REFLECTIONS=1COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=1LANDING_LIGHTS=1AC_SELF_SHADOW=1EFFECTS_QUALITY=2GROUND_SHADOWS=0TEXTURE_QUALITY=3IMAGE_QUALITY=0See_Self=1Text_Scroll=1SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=1693500672Any and all help would be much appriaceted as this has been driving me mad for weeks now.Norm Eyles

Thanks for the tip, I am afraid it didn't work fixing the bare bones aircraft issue, but it fixed up a few other preformance issues I had.In case anyone else can help me I am running Win 7 64 bit ( Service Pack 1) thru a Mac Book Pro via Bootcamp. DirectX Version 11.0. The Graphics card is GeForce 320M. Total Graphics Memory Available is 1915 MB with 256 MB dedicated video memory.FSX is running with service update 1from the FS site and 2 thru FSX Accelerator. Some of the default aircraft are fine as are some of my paywear aircraft. Its not random it is always the same aircraft which are either in their full glory or looking like a skeleton.I all so run Railworks which is very graphics intensive, it runs great with out any issues what so ever.Norm Eyles

Hello NormDo you have the highmemfix in your cfg file? If not I'd recommend running the cfg through this nifty tool http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

Chaps,I have also previously had this issue which was not shader related. If you have been using bojotes guide and inserted the bufferpool entry into your cfg, it may be that the value is too high. If you use the shader 3 mod then you need to make sure you have the modified shader files installed too.Cheers,Tim

If you modify core software, don't complain when it breaks. There is a reason FSX doesn't use it by default, and you are very likely looking at the reason why not.A few config file changes will not make software work better. If only software dev was so easy!Best regards,Robin.
I have been using Shader 3 for a year, and never had this problem. I had it long time ago, before Bojote's tweaks and his Shader 3 were released, so this is not the problem. FSX didn't use it because Microsoft didn't upgrade it. And FSX is absolutely stable with Bojote's tweaks, and if you use an ATI card, the Shaders 3 boost the FSX performance (fps) a lot, and the graphic's quality too.Cheers.

I use Bojote's tweaks for quite some time and it added more FPS to my FS. Never had problems with it also. The only tweak I don't like is the SOUND_LOD=1. The AI aircrafts get a weird engine sound with that. I always reset it to "0". I'll reinstall the Shader 3.0 mod after I finish the flight I'm on right now. I knew this couldn't be the problem because I had already installed the mod before and nothing wrong appeared.

Is there any benefit using the Shader 3 mod with an NVIDIA card?
Not really. Only a little improvement in water and reflections, but you'll lose textures in azimutal external view when you increase the zoom-out... That's not important for me, but perhaps may be for you. I recently uninstalled it because is not compatible with FSX Water configurator, and I like it a lot.The users who gets a great improvement in fps and image quality, are those who own ATI cards...Cheers.

You need to add HIGHMEMFIX=1 to your graphics section in the FSX.cfg. The same thing used to happen to me.
