How to brighten up a GPS gauge?

Featured Replies

On certain airplanes, I have a problem seeing whats on the GPS gauge (and sometimes other gauges too) at certain times of the day (dawn / dusk usually) due to the GPS unit display being too dark. Is there a way to control the brightness of the GPS gauge?

a bit more info pleasewhich GPS do you refer to.. the default GPS_500 or is it and addon like RXP or or..which plane etc etc.. is it in the VC or the popup panel

To elaborate ... I need to brighten up both default GPS's on payware addons and RealityXP in the VC ( I fly VC only). During the day is no problem but dawn or dusk, especially when FSX turns the 'lights' off is the biggest problem.

The RXP GNS comes with a dimmer gauge.. otherwise, experiment with the dome and/or panel lights, depending on the plane. Worst case, use the popup window for the GPS at nighttime.

Backlighting for 3d VC instruments is wholly dependent on the modeler's specificatons for the gauge projection polygons for "lighting" and as such is not something that may be changed by the end user.Worse, only true FSX models can take advantage of the new "Additive" lighting mode, which is the "brightest" mode possible for virtual cockpits.
