July 23, 201114 yr Exactly what I'm doing too with my X-65... And later we should be able to use LINDA via macro commands. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
July 23, 201114 yr Author Moderator Sean, you could also just set up the keypresses and then bind those keys to your buttons in the X52 profiler - that's what I'm doing with mine. Just load the profile you want before you fly whatever plane. That's an idea also but I am even more unfamiliar with using the X52 software :-)FSUIPC loads the profile automatically though as it detects which plane you are using, much more convenient than having to remember to activate a profile in SST first.I think this way, using the FSUIPC Profile, might be easier than reading up on the X52 profiler/software.All this makes me realise that I really need to invest in some sort of a yoke sooner rather than later as it's always felt weird flying Boeings and the few g/a aircraft I own using an X52 stick. Maybe i'll even ditch the gas and brake pedals that i've been using for the last 6 years as rudder pedals and invest in a set of those :( Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 23, 201114 yr Proper rudder pedals make all the difference Sean they really do, the Saitek pedals are very good (the ones that have been around for a while), I still prefer my X52 stick to the Saitek Yoke though, I sent my Yoke back for a refund during the first 30 days due to firmware fault. The VRi Yoke is very well made and feels silky smooth (tested it at a show), but the lack of buttons on it put me off immensely. Cheers, Andy.

Looks like a great product, but the total lack of buttons is a deal breaker for me

I've even tried switching it on my desk and flying with it left handed but that didn't feel right either since it moves differently than a yoke. On the rudder pedals I will have to give then a shot one day and see how they feel. The gas/brake setup i've been using forever is better than nothing, but they are so easy to press that it makes the rudder in the sim so sensative, even with the sensitivity turned down.On the FSUIPC profile, I went ahead loaded FSX with one of the PMDG 747 paints and opened FSUIPC and created a profile called PMDG 747 and assigned my 5 buttons to match the corresponding key strokes. Then went back into the sim to test and it worked fine, took the 747 around the pattern and all the buttons on the X52 worked. Then without starting a new flight I selected another 747 paint and loaded it but the keys I had just selected in my PMDG 747 profile weren't working for some reason. I opened FSUIPC up again and clicked Profle Specific and selected the PMDG 747 profile and it seems like they are now working with that paint. So the first time I fly any PMDg 747 that is a different paint do I need to open FSUIPC and hit the Profile Specific box and save it for each paint? For some reason I though that FSUIPC would detect that I was in the 747 automatically and load the profile, but when I switched paints the buttons weren't working until I clicked that check box in FSUIPC and saved it. July 23, 201114 yr Author Moderator Yes, unfortunately you need to do that.Ok, thanks for the clarification and its not a big deal since you just have to do it once. I just rebooted FSX and started with one of the paints I assigned and the buttons were working.Maybe I could just manually edit the ini file by numbering and copying and pasting the "titles" over from each paint, that way they well be all assigned at once.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 23, 201114 yr Yes you have to add the different repaints by selecting the profile from the drop down list after you have clicked on the Profile Specific box, you only have to do this once though for each paint. Here is what the DUKE entry looks like from my profile (minus the rest of the settings for brevity). [Profile.DUKE]1=RealAir Beech Duke N4029S2=RealAir Beech Duke DIESG Winglets3=RealAir Beech Duke N2060V4=RealAir Beech Duke Turbine GRTDK Winglets Ventral[buttons.DUKE]0=PX,25,CM2:2,0...... One other tip you do not need to reload FSX for your changes in FSUIPC to take effect, at the most all you need to do is click the "Reload Assignments" button which you should see somewhere in the same tab you are currently working in in FSUIPC. Cheers, Andy.
