HDR mod for FSX

Featured Replies

Hey I saw the HDR mod on the AOA NGX video today so I went and found it downloaded it and installed it in FSX where they said to but it doesn't work. Does anyone else here have any experience with it? It looks like a must have before release day.Hiram Hunt

I guess you're talking about this ENBSeries-Mod, Hiram. You can enable and/or disable it by pressing SHIFT+F12 on your keyboard. Do you have DX10 preview mode on or off in your FSX?best regards, toby

And check that you have put BOTH the .dll and the .ini file in the FSX main directory, if one is missing it won't work. Seems obvious, but it's quite possible to only unzip one if in a hurry.

I have DX10 on. I just want to make sure I put it in the right place. The instructions aren't explicit. It just says put it in the root FSX directory. If I hit Shift F12 nothing happens.Hiram Hunt

Then simply turn DX10 mode off and the HDR mod should wake up...best regards, toby

Might you switch DX10 better of. Doesn't work well in FSX. Or is that requied for this mod?

I might be mistaken, but as far as I know, DX10 mode needs to be off in order to get ENBSeries HDR mod to work properly. I somehow managed it about a year ago to tweak things a bit more with ENBSeries and DX10 both working at the same time. The result was that the environment was fine, but the aircrafts have been totally destructed and overall appeared as black holes; nothing but black ones.I switched back to my backup with DX9 enabled and everything was fine again.

What is HDR ?I guess....High Definition R....... ?

High Dynamic Range--> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging--> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_renderingIn HDRI's, several f-stop values are stored into the image. I use those images, or .exr ones, for doing my 3d visualization stuff. The HDR mod in this case tries to mimic the eyes' visual perception.

Okay I've unchecked DX 10 in FSX and I've gone back and re-loaded my REX2.0 textures with DX 10 turned off and I'm getting ready to try it out. Is there anything else I need to do first? By the way I just read the huge article on wiki explaining what DX is. What is the advantage of DX10 in FSX? You always see it in the features lists of add-ons that they are DX10 compatible but I've always wondered what that meant and how it was better.Hiram Hunt

Any negitives? Ive been concidering giving this a go for about a year now, and now that I ditched my old 8800GTS for a GTX550ti, I'm wondering if this is really a must have?
