July 27, 201114 yr New to design here. When watching AI aircraft turn, they drag their nosewheels. I am testing a new model F-100 and this aircraft model does the same. Only difference is the nosewheel moves in the proper direction. It is almost as if the real nose gear is behind the visual one if that makes sense. So, where can I go to educate myself on this. Is it a Aircraft.cfg thing or is it in the air file? I have not yet begun to model yet, I am quickly educating myself on .cfg files first. So please point me if you would into the right direction? I searched tillers here to no avail. Turn search made my teeth fall out prematurely so. Thanks for the help! :( Respectfully, Jet
July 27, 201114 yr Moderator Neither of the above; it's a model thing...IOW, something over which you have no control whatsoever, unless you happen to be the modeler. :( Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 27, 201114 yr Basically, AI aircraft turn at their center point (as defined by the MDL and the cfg file). That can make the gear do odd things, since AI aircraft have essentially no friction with the ground - they just slide over it.If that AI nose wheel actually rotates into the turn, I would love to know how that is done for a GMAX AI aircraft. :) My aircraft that use either the rudder or the c_wheel tags don't turn at all. Thanks, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page

That's how I have the T-38A AI a/c set up. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 28, 201114 yr Thanks, I'll check that in FS9 and see if it works. But I haven't yet noticed any rudder movement when AI planes are taxiing. Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
July 31, 201114 yr Author Well thanks so much for that answer! Now I know. Model thing. Are the air files really that hard to work with? I have no experience with assembler. Ugh. If anyone has some really good tutes I would love a link or 5. Thank you so much in advance. Respectfully, Jet
