GPS-Activate Vectors to Final - Not working

Featured Replies

Hi all, Hmmm strange one, as per pictures, I select approach and then final, but unlike the picture which is the final approach to the runway I just see a blank screen as if it does not select the vectors, I am using it at major airports and it did work. The screen with Select approach and vectors to final etc (first picture) works but when I activate it the second picture does not come up with anything, it should be the final vectors as pictured in the second picture but it does not work for me. Is there something I am missing or a way to default the GPS again as its virtually now impossible to land correctly...........many many thanks for anyone who can help me here please............

When you activate 'VTF' mode, all the GPS does is turn the plane to intercept the final approach course at the FAF, from your present position. It doesnt care where you are when you activate it, so you need to make sure you are in a position to intercept the inbound course from no more than a 45 degree angle. Also, the FAF is usually around 5 miles from the threshold, which is pretty close if you are flying a fast plane. Make sure you are configured to land well before the FAF or it could get interesting. On most approaches (not the one you are showing), you can also select a 'transition' that normally includes a IAF which is further out and gives you more time to get set up. Once you activate vectors, go back to the MAP page, and you should see a red line extending from the runway, thats a 'leadin' to the FAF. Press the TERR button and you should be able to see it better than the dark screen you have now. Hope this helps

I have a different problem and am using this post to try to get an answer. If I choose an IAF for an approach on the GPS, it is added to the end of the FPL, so that the aircraft flies FIRST to the airport and then turns around and flies to the IAP. Is there any way to make the plane fly to the IAP rather than to the airport ? Thanks,Dave Hinson

Thanks, vgbaron. I had activated the approach, but did not know you had to activate it AGAIN after it was loaded. Dave
