March 1, 201214 yr Well this is interesting... Because of this thread, I checked out dx10 preview and gained 20 fps. It was amazing. I hit full sliders, loaded up a flight at my most loaded up airport, put in a cumulous layer from 5000 to 13000, and hit full rain, at dusk. I was still getting the same fps (around 10) that I did on a perfectly sunny day, half sliders in dx9. Life was perfect for about an hour. Then I shut down fs and did some work. Came back tonight and loaded up a flight, and I'm stuck at about 6 fps, even with sliders set completely to 0...does anyone know why this would possibly happen? Dave Swanson
March 1, 201214 yr Between the 2 flights the PC was reset/shut down? If not, maybe a program or more, running in background, has slowed down your preformances. This is the only possibility that I think. Regards Andrea Daviero

Happened again today, restarted the computer and the performance went back up! Thanks for the advice! Dave Swanson
March 2, 201214 yr You can try to disable some programs using task manager to remove manually the running tasks after you close FSX, maybe you will find the program wich causes the problem. Regards Andrea Daviero
March 2, 201214 yr DX10 caused Aerosoft EHAM night scenery terminals ..animated airport vehicles, to go all solid gray .. looks bad.Non scenery objects like aircraft look OK.About a 10 FPS increase for my setup. So at present I cannot use DX10. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
March 2, 201214 yr On topic - DX10 caused Aerosoft EHAM night scenery terminals ..animated airport vehicles, to go all solid gray .. looks bad.Non scenery objects like aircraft look OK.About a 10 FPS increase for my setup. So at present I cannot use DX10.I guess that's a limitation of dx10 preview. Objects made originally for fs9 don't load the textures correctly in fsx. From what I've read. That being said, I can live with a few gray textures (even moving woai traffic...although that's kind of annoying) for the performance boost I get.You can try to disable some programs using task manager to remove manually the running tasks after you close FSX, maybe you will find the program wich causes the problem.I've tried doing this, and I agree completely with it. However, I have fsx on a laptop that is leased from the university I'm going to, and they loaded this thing up with so much crap it is ridiculous. While I'm writing this post I have 81 processes running and 43% of 4 gigs of ram is being taken up by god knows what....is there any way to clear some of that up? Is there any way to know what processes are necessary for the computer to run? On startup I generally have about 32-35% of my ram used before starting any program. Sorry I know this is off topic. March 2, 201214 yr Another thing is that some textures appear gray, but I found a fix to that. Sadly it's payware but it works well. It's called Addon Converter X. It doesn't cost much and it works well.I tried this and it really works well!! Be sure to read and apply the instructions though!another negative effect of DX10 preview (rain/snow-tunnel-effect) I also solved with this link: http://forums1.avsim...d/page__st__25#The runway flickering I don't notice (yet). but there are solutions for that here: http://forum.avsim.n...flickering-fix/The only thing I couldn't solve was the loss of texture of the airport vehicles and AES jetways. However I kind of worked around this by disabeling the apron traffic on my addon airports (Aerosoft and UK2000) and ditching AES Help for GSX by Virtuali (fully compatible with DX10 preview and much nicer than AES). The FSX jetways can be moved by ctrl-J and are DX10 compatible.I gain a lot of extra FPS and can use the bloom effect now with the sliders way up!All these, together with UTX Europe and GEX Europe I've got stunning views and very smooth fps!!! March 3, 201214 yr I'm curious about experience of other simmers with above mentioned solutions, although I realise it's not specific NGX related... :( Ed van de Vijver http://SeeBee-Creations.com
