I couldn't see where I could send the moderator a private message directly, but I'm curious as to why a civil discussion on the differences between two of the more popular flight sim add-ons was locked? I think flight simulator consumers need all the data they can get regarding purchasing decisions so they don't waste money. I was intrigued that someone said PMDG had better fps than iFly. That seemed counter to what I would expect and would like more information. Pretty disappointed in this forum.

I expect it was locked because experience shows that these discussions don't remain civil for very long... In addition, they aren't typically very valuable because they are rarely really representative of what you (in particular) can expect. User setups, experience levels, system stability, expectations, etc. seem to vary so wildly that the comparisons aren't really very useful. DJ

I can't compare with the iFly 737, but here's how the NGX compares against the PMDG 747 and MD-11. Sitting at KSEA, PNW, 75% airliner MyTrafficX, REX2, Extremely Dense Scenery, Very Dense AG MD-11: 29 FPSNGX: 27 FPS (24 with the mouse pointer on screen)747: 24 FPS

i think users information is about as valuable as it gets especially on the most popular 2 flight sim products, the previous poster has given excellent comparsion and hopefully someone will input with ifly too. if we can't discuss the most awaited product in years...what the point of bothering with avsim forum?, we might as well just ready the cosy relationship between vendors and advertisers and take in what they want us to read.

I think that with the volume of posts on Avsim today, on the PMDG forum in particular, we need to cut the moderators a lot of slack. Maybe when things cool down a little we can have this type of discussion without it heading south immediately.

Thanks Ubersu and Trisager.----- Guys, we'll reopen this kind of threads in a few days.Thx
