August 6, 201114 yr Hello everyone, First off, I'm on my first full flight(KBFI-CYYC Westjet delivery) and this plane is just plane unbelievable!!!! Words cannot express just how awesome this aircraft is!!!!!! Congratulations PMDG on what is by far and away the best aircraft(and addon?) for FS ever!!!! So, with this highly detailed and accurate model comes with it a greater learning curve then ever before. And, that brings me to my question here...How or what systems effect being able to enable the autopilot? I cannot enable the Yaw Damper nor can I engage the autopilot. I'm sure there's something I'm missing and that these are related but I haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong from the cold and dark startup nor how to resolve it since engine start. Is it something to do with IRS? Or, I read somewhere else that you can't use manual trim maybe(at least if you want to enable autopilot the ailerons and horizontal stabilizer need to be centered). Anyway, I'll keep reading and trying to find it myself but would appreciate if anyone just knows already if they could save me the time so I can fly this beautiful plane the way it's supposed to be flown. August 6, 201114 yr Switch jaw damper on and make sure hyrdaulics are online. Light should go out. FRED
August 6, 201114 yr Had this issue on my first flight.on the second flight, the Yaw dumpper works as it suppose to.I've heard from another guy which had same issue, on hisfirst run. Ran Finkels
August 6, 201114 yr Author Fred - I have tried switching on the Y/D many times. Each time, it either immediately goes back off or eventually will go back to off after a few minutes. Ran - Hopefully I have the same experience then. About to start the second flight now. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
August 6, 201114 yr Fred - I have tried switching on the Y/D many times. Each time, it either immediately goes back off or eventually will go back to off after a few minutes. Ran - Hopefully I have the same experience then. About to start the second flight now. That has happened to me only when on the ground when I accidentally disconnect ground power without putting apu generators online. Maybe you are accidentally disconnecting generators or hydraulics as was said? Alfredo Terrero
August 6, 201114 yr Author Well, it must be something along the lines of what Ran was talking about. My second flight went off perfectly. I did the exact same preflight from cold and dark. Not sure why that happens, but it's all good now. What a beautiful aircraft!!!!! :) Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
August 6, 201114 yr To engage the yaw damper you must align the IRS and make sure the FLIGHT CONTROL B switch is in ON, after the IRS is aligned you can engage the YAW DAMPER, hydraulics is not necessary to engage the YAW DAMPER.To engage the AUTOPILOT to CMD or CWS the Hydraulic,s needs to be ON and the IRS is aligned. The Yaw Damper and the A/P system is simulated correctly on the ground with engines OFF. just like in the real B737 NG. Mark. Mark Scheerman Boeing 737-6/7/8/900 Ground Engineer
