Question - Cold & Dark - Doors

Featured Replies

I have set up the 800WL for a Cold & Dark start. Battery on, Ground Power Connected and On. Going to the CDU to open doors and cargo doors. They will not open. Am I missing something? The open door functions work when engines are running. Thanks Bill MortonFSX w/Acceleration Windows 7 x64, 6gb

Check your electrics and hydraulics are on. It may be one or both required, also just because the APU is running does not mean that the APU generator is going, you may actually still be on battery, you need to move the APU Gen to On, you will know when you have done it correctly. Mark.

Thanks for the quick response. It was the fuels pumps not on. Bill Morton

Fuel pumps don't need to be on. switch the battery on (standby might need to be on/auto also I forget) and if you wait long enough they will allow you to open them. It just takes a little time. The CDU option changes from "Closed" to "Open door" in the same way if you despressurise the cabin (below 0.5psi DP). I'm not sure why the aircraft needs to have power to open the door though.

I do not think the real ones does but because these options are controlled via the CDU, which needs power, you also need power here to operate the doors. FRED

CDU doesn't actually need power (in FSX that is), if you hold the menu key down it will turn on even with no power on at all, just so you can access FS/PMDG menus without having to power the aircraft right up. Can't seem to turn it off the same way as stated in the introduction pdf however.
