August 7, 201114 yr @Dazz is'nt i7 a sandy bridge ? I am not too aware of the new technology been almost 14 years not into computer specs. Or is the i5 2500k a sandy bridge. @jonnybear, Usually almost every one uses a separate disk for FSX due to a lot of add ons and files being clustered around and accessing would be better. I use a 160 gb for my FSX :) hey I know it's not too huge but it does the job very well. In fact I must be having the lowest system here @forum :). But again you don't need to or may not want to spend those extra 20 for a 260 gb maybe later you can do that. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

August 7, 201114 yr I want to build a computer for everyday computing and FSX, but I have a pretty tight budget of only $690 (excluding monitor). However, I'm a little worried that I won't get very good performance out of FSX with such a tight budget. If you are going to include the cost of Windows and the DVD reader to install it and FSX (not included in some of the above suggested setups), it has been my experience that a budget of $800-$900 is about right for a low-cost system that will run with the big boys. Edit: I just noticed what you decided on. Very good. Don't forget the DVD reader, doesn't cost much anyway. Art

August 7, 201114 yr Thanks Art_p for writing about the DVD & FSX & windows cost. That reminds me. @jonnybear There is something called as TrackIR if you have not heard about it. It is used for making your views using a cam and infra red so do not need to use the keys to view around which would cost you around 150 extra just a guess I do not know the actual price. But if you want a cheap alternative then I would suggest Freetrack which would require you to purchase a cam and make your own 3 point head clip using LED's , I use the yellow ones but a red color is recommend by Freetrack. The cost here is only for the Cam the LED are like dirt cheap. Probably in $1 you may get around 7-8 of them but you require only three. The other option is to use Facetracknoir absolutely free again using a cam but no LED's required. It's still in a development stage but I use it at times and it works great. But you can look at these later once you have settled down with your new rig and setting up FSX to your liking. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
August 7, 201114 yr Author Sorry guys, I actually forgot to mention that my setup includes both windows 7 home premium and an asus DVD Burner. If any of you are wondering how I got the price to be pretty low, this is because I found an excellent deal on microcenters website. The i5 2500k is $180 and they also have a deal that if you buy a sandy bridge processor, you can also get a compatible h67, p67, or z68 motherboard from their list for an extra $40 off the original price of the motherboard. Just thought I'd throw that in for anybody on a budget like me. August 7, 201114 yr Living near a microcenter is a nice convenience. I meant to ask if you had one nearby. August 7, 201114 yr Don't you guys in the States have retail outlets like here in India -BOMBAY has a place called Lamington Road get everything at the shops. Everyone here goes to this place and picks up stuff they also assemble it for you if need be. We get a 72 hrs retail replacement warranty and after that you have to go the OEM's but if you know the retailers & dealers they help you out with the replacement quite soon.
