Overclocking may cause ctd!

Recommended Posts

Hello all, As you know, if you have overclocked system you can have some problems after installation. Therefore, installation process is suggested without overclocking. Give it a try.

If OC causes corruption it means that it's very unstable (actually you wouldn't be able to run windows).

Uygar, there are two types of overclocking: stable and unstable. Stable OC will not cause any problems, that's why we call it stable, PC acts just like stock but faster. Unstable OC affects all overclocked components causing BSoDs, CTDs, corruption in files etc. Cheers,

This is one of the most bizarre threads I have come across.
Look at this;WARNING: NO OVERCLOCKING WHEN INSTALLING A OS OR SOFTWARE, DEFRAGMENTING, OR INITIALLY TUNING FSX! YOU START WITH A SECURE AND STABLE SYSTEM WITH THE CORRCT BIOS SETTINGS FOR YOUR SATA SYSTEM, MEMORY SPEED/TIMING/VOLTAGE. OVERCLOCKING COMES LAST --AND THEN-- YOU CAN ADJUST FSX SETTINGS FOR A NEW CLOCK, NOT UNTIL MORE ERRORS ARE MADE TUNING A SYSTEM AND FSX WHILE OVERCLOCKED THAN ANY OTHER REASON. IT IS POSSIBLE TO END UP WITH INSTALL CORRUPTION OR YOU MAY BE OVER-DRIVING THE CPU EVEN IF TEMPS LOOK RIGHT! START WITH NO CLOCK, AND WORK YOUR WAY UP, LAST! quoted from here; http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic34141_post198187.html#198187

I allways do that, allways...., when installing something, OS, graphics driver, FSX, scenery or aircraft, i allways set my OC back to default speed in bios, after finished installing, i put back my OC. After i have start using this method, i almost done with errors in FSX. Peace.gif

Is that what all the PMDG folks do cause it looks like they all run intel cpu's over 4ghz, and intel dont make 4ghz cpu's. :) Chris S
