December 29, 200322 yr A public thankyou to George Grimshaw for the latest update to his excellent freeware scenery. New buildings and textures along with all the correct runway ILS' now functional, put this on par with any current payware offering.IMHO the best rendition of any FS2004 airport out there.:-beerchug - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
December 29, 200322 yr I second that emotion!Thanks George :-)http://fsgateway.com/frank/fs9paibeta.jpg
December 29, 200322 yr Dear George,Having had your first scenery for KBOS I immediately dl'd the new one and then removed the old one and old afcad files and fired Boston up.Loved the scenery, however I found that I had runway markers in the middle of the runway . . . on every runway . . . yours was the ONLY KBOS scenery I had and I thought I had removed it all. did I miss something or do something wrong? I'm not a novice to installing scenery, but I'm sure I'm capable of making a mistake . . .your prievious work was really great! Any clue?Clay
December 29, 200322 yr Thanks Guys :)Clay, what do you mean by runway markers? The distance remaining black signs? Feel free to email me a screenshot of youe problem [email protected] few of you have emailed me about FSNavigator not showing the ILS. I have NO idea how to fix this :) The ILS shows up correctly in the MSMAP, but no show in FSNAV. Any FSNav experts have any ideas how I can make FS Navigator see the ILS??? Is this something that needs fixing in the AFCAD software?
December 30, 200322 yr I had a similar problem with Gary Widup's outstanding KDEN scenery. All I did was the normal routine to recreate the FS Navigator database (run FSNavDBC) so that the ILS data for the airport can be properly displayed (I also delete the scenery.000 & scenery.001 files as they will be recreated anyway). Before this I had the same display problem with the brand new Runway 16-34 ILS data not showing up. I recreated the database and lo and behold ....problem fixed! So, as I write this I am recreating the database again and will report back on the results tonight. By the way George, great work as well!! I know I will enjoy the scenery.Regards,Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
December 30, 200322 yr thank you and if you ever want to place Cape air planes where they belong as static I would be able to help you with where they park.NP
December 30, 200322 yr I don't have any models of the little twin cessnas Cape fly.If you want to make one or find one for me I'd be glad to do a CapeAir static pack.
December 30, 200322 yr George, I'm glad it fixed things for you...LOL. I get a different result where the ILS data still is not showing up in FS Navigator. Now I have reinstalled the scenery and gone through the steps and I've placed the AFCAD2 file in my Addon Scenery/Scenery file, not in the Boston Logan file. Should the AFCAD2 file be in the Boston Logan file? What I am seeing in FS Navigator are the runways, but no taxiways (you too?) or ILS data. I have installed 5 or 6 other sceneries with no problems. I would really like to use your impressive scenery so if you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Usually it's an AFCAD problem if I cannot see the taxiways. I will recreate my FSNav database and see if that solves my problem as it did for you.Regards,Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
December 30, 200322 yr I don't think it really matters where the AFCAD goes. I may be wrong.I installed the AFCAD in the addon scenery directory but I believe it'll work in any scenery dir.The taxiways don't show up for me either. They are made of polygons rather than MS taxiways so I doubt it
December 30, 200322 yr I use the golden eagle 421c from flight1 with the Cape Air liveries. If thats possible it would be great. I use to work them and flew into Boston all the time and would love to see those planes sitting there. I guess I could use Ttool and AFCAD to put them there as well but those golden eagles are high detail and add to the frame hit.NP
December 30, 200322 yr George, success!! I reinstalled the scenery following your instructions, but I did in fact, after recreating the FSNav database put the AFCAD2 file within the specific scenery folder (Addon Scenery/scenery/Boston Logan/scenery). Anyway everything is fine now, I can see the taxiways and ILS info within FSNav. Maybe it was a fluke, I don't know, but I'm happy and looking forward to using your scenery to the fullest. Thanks again for your contribution to the FS community!! BTW, are you thinking of doing any other Airport sceneries? I'll keep my my eyes open and look forward to possible future releases from you.Regards,Tom Stewart i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
