Changing settings without losing tweaks?

Featured Replies

Since different sceneries sometimes require different settings for e.g. Mesh resolution, you sometimes have to change these settings. Unfortunately, doing so erases some tweaks to the fsx.cfg file, such as the LOD radius and the texture_max_load=, which is reset to 1024. This requires you to exit Flight Sim, re-apply the tweaks and then start it again. Does anyone know of a way to change scenery settings without triggering this re-write of the FSX.cfg file, which erases any custom settings and tweaks?

Make a copy of your modified.cfg file and set it aside. Then if you make changes you can reload the modified file. Also, FSX supports multiple .cfg files from within FSX. There is no way to prevent the re-sets from happening.

You can use a program like FSX Config editor to make changes outside of FSX also. Making the changes while FSX is running is what resets the others. Vic
