I get this too sometimes... I feel it may be the navigraph navdata. Or, the FMS cannot calculate a proper descent path (ie it's too steep etc)

FCOM2 page 1134 (11.60.16) provides the cause and the corrective action. I solved this in one occassion with a speed restriction.

I keep getting this error. changing speed restrictions or altitudes does not help.

I found that although the message was "NO DES PATH AFTER XXXX" it indicated that the speed/altitude combinations as set needed adjusting to an achievable combination given the distance (and time) between waypoints. By selecting only a modest change if the distance is relatively short and then asking for the required change when there is enough distance and time to achieve the transition seems to work for me.

I Rarley get this issue, but sometimes when i do my flight plan the FMC Calulates the fmc but sometimes decends at like 4500-5000FPM even on a basic straight in decent with few restrictions that are well spaced out. I dont think pilots decend aircraft that fast do they? unless of course depressuirzation pardon the spelling had to type fast derek
