  1. Hi,I am planning on running ASE from my laptop (network configuration). I am confused about FSX SDK service packs. Shall I first install SDK from my FSX CD and then upgrade to SDK SP2 or just to SP1a? The ASE manual says SP1a.Thanks
  2. Very informative. Thank you very much!
  3. Oh that was interesting. I will have to check that once I get home.
  4. Yes, that is exactly what I mean. My NGX obviously has a lazy VNAV.I have searched the net trying to find a way to determine TL out of QNH and TA. It seems to be a well kept secret.
  5. I envy you for the huge boost in performance you are going to achieve by overclocking your CPU. Get it at least to 3.5 GHz. You can do that easily by adjusting frequencies, without touching voltages. 4.0 GHz should be perfectly doable if you are willing to get yours fingers dirty tweaking you motheboard.I have an i7-860, which is a worse CPU than yours. It is running at 4.4 GHz! When I fly over busy airports the CPU cooling fan goes so fast that it seems like the whole computer wants to take off himself.
  6. Vroute premium predicts too much fuel.
  7. I just did one more test flight and LNAV keeps refusing to intercept the new path. After a couple of minutes I get the message DES PATH UNACHIEVABLE.Now I am too tired to think anymore. I will ask my pillow for advise...
  8. Thank you for fast replies!Actually I didn't have any issues with LNAV not readjusting vertical speed in order to intercept the new path after switching to local. This is something that has been happening for the last flights. I am not sure it starting happening right after SP1. I would say that it worked well after SP1, but suddenly something seems to have gone wrong. I haven't made any changes to ASE, not that I can recall.
  9. Hi,I have two questions not directly related to NGX, but I think this can be useful to other NGX pilots.1) While descending, as I cross TL (transition level) I click STD in the inner BARO knob (after setting the local QNH). This way I go from standard pressure (29.92 or 1013) to local pressure (QNH). Very often this results in the altimeter switching to a totally different altitude than the one I was flying in VNAV, sometimes 600 ft below VNAV. The airplane doesn't seem to do anything about it and continues flying above the new path altitude. Then I use V/S and enter a steeper vertical descend speed. As I get close to the right altitude I click on VNAV button and the plane intersects the vertical path and continues flying the proper path. Is this the right way to do it?2) Since I don't know how to calculate the TL I usually add 1000 ft to the TA. For instance if TA is 7000 I use FL080 as TL. Do you know how to calculate the right TL when you know the TA and the local QNH?Thank you!
  10. I had same issue yesterday when flying ENVA to ENBR.
  11. I have had same issue when flying ENVA-ENBR. I did this route several times before SP1 with no problems. After SP1 in two occasions the airplane kept high speed during descend and I had to disengage AP and fly STAR manually because IAS was too high. Going to try one more time today.
  12. Thanks for nice explanation.I was actually wondering whether it is possible to assign a keystroke to the dome light switch. I sometimes find it hard to find that switch in the dark.
  13. Is it possible to map this switch to a key/button?
  14. Same problem here, after SP1
  15. Great touchdown sound! Did you locate the roll sound yet, Joel? Roll sound would make the takeoff/landing experience complete :)
  16. lol wife cancelling facilities :)The best investment I have done in the sound department was to buy an extra sound card - a cheap one, the cheapest I found. I use that one for my headphones (also cheap ones) while the sounds from the airplane and external sounds all go to main speakers. I find it both realistic and very handy since I can adjust both channels independently. So my advice: cheap headset and extra sound card for voice communication and good speakers for all other sounds.Edit: Of course you can also do it the other way round. Get a very good sound card for external sounds including cockpit sounds and attach headphones to sound card integrated in mobo for voice com.
  17. Hi,I used to suffer from LNAV-disengage syndrome earlier. Somehow I fixed it. I can't remember how. Now, after SP1 I have noticed that LNAV is randomly disengaging during flight. I guess it is related to windshear. I have been doing some changes to ASE settings, but as you can imagine the problem is difficult to reproduce since it happens pretty randomly so testing changes in ASE settings is not easy. I found some settings here, but they dont prevent LNAV-disengage in my case.My question is: Are there any fixes to this annoying problem?Another issue perhaps related to the LNAV-disengage is that when my NGX is going to do a turn (flying RNAV) it first does a minor turn in the opposite direction before doing the main turn. Let's say I am flying heading 360 and to turn heading 045, the autopilot will first turn left and then right towards 045. Is it supposed to be like that? Is this what people call S-turns?Thanks in advance!
  18. Smooth (30 fps) at Fly Tampa and FSDT airports. Around 15-20 fps at Aerosoft airports.
  19. Yes, data from Navigraph doesn't seem to include A or B, like in 220B or 10000A.
  20. I own both and I like both. The NGX seems to be giving me slightly better fps. The J41 is a lightweight simulation when compared to NGX, like no failures, but I believe all systems are simulated and the manual is very very good. For short flights under 45 minutes it is still my favorite airplane. I must admit I am a bit biased since I love turboprops
  21. Which unit are you european fellows using? I wonder whether european airlines (except for UK?) use Kg as their fuel unit.
