Do you mean the overhead lighting that lights up the whole cockpit? if so thats the dome light and the switch to turn it on is on the upper overhead panel near the IRS

I know that lighting - but Im referring to the flood lighting - you can do it for the center console, and main panels, and it turns on a dimmer light that you can control, its called FLOOD lighting, as opposed to just the dials and letters. does this exist for the overhead as well or is that just regular panel lighting and no FLOOD.

Is it possible to map this switch to a key/button?

In the cockpit there are:-Pedestal flood lightDome light (works also with emergency lights)-each Panel lights for backlight.-Flood lights for the main panel-AFDS flood light for MCP-Map light (it can be controlled with a knob/switch near the oxygen mask)-spot light that is the one on each cockpit member that is detachable and connected throug a flexible electrical cable, for the pilots is below the side window.-Other than these lights there are the flashlights that must be used only in emergency.

Thanks for nice explanation.I was actually wondering whether it is possible to assign a keystroke to the dome light switch. I sometimes find it hard to find that switch in the dark.

About key assignment I don't know!A little trick you could use on ngx is to save a cold & dark panel state with emergency lights armed. At the next load you will have cockpit illuminated by emergency lights. In the sim there is no risk to discharge (or damage) emergency battery packs.
