Panel Lock-Up Issue - Test it Up High

Featured Replies

Hello All -- in this wide effort to find the reason(s) for this issue, our pros at PMDG are working hard on this. In the interest of helping as much as possible, after having posted a ticket at PMDG's request with my observations, I wanted to ask others to test their NGXs as I did to try and cover all bases. My panel lockups are observed at HIGH ALTITUDE for the most part: at flight levels over FL300 and are heavily aggravated by changing views (eg changing from cockpit to spot view then back again). I noticed no changes after installing the hot fix. The interesting part is that I do not have lock ups at lower altitudes, regardless also of time in the air (flight duration). I should add I have fixed the uiautomationcore.dll issue which totally eliminated regular desktop crashes during long flights. CTDs no longer happen on my system. FYI. It would be interesting to hear if others are experiencing the same lockups under the same conditions I am seeing them. Comments appreciated. Thanks --- Bob huh.png

Hey, where'd you get the UIAutomationcore? I re-did FSX and I forgot where to find it.

Hi Derian --- there is much information on the web about this dll. And there are various opinions about how to work with it but....here is what I did. The UIAutomationcore.dll file exists in various forms, but there are two key locations in Windows 64 where I disabled the dll. (1) c:\Windows\System32 and (2) c:\Windows\SysWOW64. I simply renamed these two files to put them out of commission at ONLY these two locations. A widely used method. This worked for me and the only problem I have with FSX now is the panel freeze-up issue. Everything else is running fantastically without ANY crashes (CTDs). Good Luck!!! LOL.gif

My panel freeze just now happened while sitting on the ground and programming the route into the FMC.

Well not good to hear. Looks like this problem has multiple dimensions to it.I sure hope the gurus at PMDG get this under control -- such a great plane, great manuals, and a sizable investment. Cheers -- Bob

Hi folks,I have done 10 flights now. Except for 3 frozen flights all went well.Flight 7 froze-up 3 hours into flightFlight 8 froze on the ground, while starting taxi.Flight 10 froze 2 hours into the flight.Sounds like the fix is not working to me. [i am holding off on the fix, until there is more information]Are you supposed to remove all liviers??? Very frustrating, all the work for a 7 hour flight go down the tube, back to iFLY for me.
