You are in VOR mode with an ILS frequency tuned. If its the ILS you want then switch to APP on the EFIS panel. However, you are at 20000ft and may not get an indication yet. Are you gonna do the tutorial? Dan.

I cant read the message, but the PFD shows a yellow box for the ILS info. That is the course for the runway you have dialed in so check if you have the same value on both your course knobs? That said, you should not be tuning in an ILS station at 40miles and 20,000 feet, you haven't started your descent yet, let alone your approach.

Sorry, I should have wrote the message underneath. It says "it says, EFIS MODE/NAV FREQ Disagree" And although I was at 20,000ft at the time it was the same on finals in to EHAM.So basically I need to be in APP once I turn onto finals? Regards Andy

there is no VOR mode explained in the tutorial ... maybe I just used the wrong VOR frequences ...

if you want to land with ils ... yes ?so turn the knob from vor to app, at least its working for me edit:where can you find VOR frequences which are working in fsx ? ingamemap of fsx ?

I was tuned to the LOC for runway 06, 110.55 according to the charts I have. Also I use Simplates X and I know there are a few things missing at certain airport charts. Andy

Basically speaking, and I'm no expert but VOR and ILS frequencies are different. For an ILS approach you will need to have both NAV radios tuned to the ILS frequency displayed on the INIT REF page of the FMC/CDU. You will also need to have both course dials tuned for the runway course, you can use the MAP mode but at least one display should have the APP mode displaying RAW DATA (ILS radio data). For an auto land you will also have to have BOTH flight directors on and both autopilots once established. Dan.

If you don't know how the ng works it can get tricky ... the tutorials are great, but you should read it carefully :)Once you done it right 1 or 2 times it will be easy for you to get from A to B and autoland it ...

This is very true and I have managed to get down once without a problem. Now I understand what was wrong I hope all will go smooth. It would be great if we had tutorial videos from real pilots. There are many on here and thought it would be great to have a professional guide.I know AOA are offering this, but to be honest $78.00 is not cheap after spending more or less the same on the NGX. Who knows, maybe a very nice kind pilot will make a video for us im%20Not%20Worthy.gif Andy

Thats wrong. You need just one radio tuned at ILS freq. and just one course selector set to correct course in order to fly ILS.

Also just had a thought Idea.gifMaybe the more experienced pilots could offer to share a flight? A short flight so the basics can be understood faster, giving more time to learn while in stable flight. Just an idea, but we used to often share flights on Game-spy, not the most reliable connection but it worked most of the time. Andy

I can make good tutorial videos, but there is no way to upload videos in HD format due low upload speed, and in low res, that videos are useless.

I get 10mb upload speed and 100mb download here.Makes life so much better when you have a good connection. I can make videos, but not ones of any use for learning to fly the NGX LMAO.gif Andy
