August 24, 201114 yr I have FSX on a new homebuilt system with a GTX-275-1792 mb video card. I am still tweaking settings and for the most part my graphics are pretty smooth. I have AA and AF set to 8X in NVIDIA Control Panel but the one annoying problem is when an airport appears in the distance, buildings, runways, etc. are shimmering and sparkling. I noticed that the rivers, lakes are doing it too. Other scenery looks relatively smooth, but airports are the most noticeable. As a matter of fact, the shimmering in the distance helps point out where the airport is, which kind of ruins the realism of locating it normally. Any ideas what setting can correct this? Thanks. Tom
August 24, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the help, Jay. I checked to make sure and ground objects shadows is already turned off since it is such a framerate killer. Tom

TomNot only that but some airports are know for their shimmering due to the developer not adding mip maps. More specifically, a lot of Aerosoft's airports shimmer since they typically dont ship them with the textures already mip mapped. Other developers like FSDT, FlyTampa, and UK2000 include mip mapped textures by default which helps to eliminate the majority of any shimmering you might see otherwise. August 24, 201114 yr There used to be Cloud9 Amsterdam and New York for FS9 , but don't if they have anything for fsx. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
August 25, 201114 yr Author Thanks guys, but so far I have not installed any addons. I'm currently running default airports and scenery. Tom
