KingAir B200 - PMDG

Featured Replies

Really enjoying the 737NGX, is there any chance your team might consider doing a KingAir B200 in the future? Of course after you have a nice vacation from doing a fantastic job with the 737NGX. Really loved flying your B1900 in FS9. There seems to be a lot of FSX folks who would love having a B200 at the level you guys build too. Similar to your J41? Thanks! CheersMartin

Think Flight1 is taking over the Aeroworx KA200 project for FSX.

At one time that was the plan, but for various reasons the deal between Flight1 and Aeroworx fell through. Since then there has been no commitment on Flight1 parts to do a B200. Given PMDG past experience with the B1900, it would be great to see them do the B200. But of course everyone wants their favorite plane LOL.gif CheersMartin

Carenado are doing a KingAir C90 I think it is....no sense more than one company doing it but hey thats just me :) *edit* would a user purchase both given they're sort of similar? maybe....

Carenado makes pretty aircraft, that's about it. They know zero about fidelity modeling ala PMDG and A2A. FRED

The original dev of the B200 does work here now... Not sure it's something we'd do though, we've really never been a GA company.

I really think a B200 done for FSX by PMDG would be a great product. The main reason I took so long to move over to FSX from FS9 was because of the B200, it is sorely missed. The B200 is such a classic aircraft and one of the most successful in the real world. Sounds like you have the right guy onboard Praying.gif CheersMartin

There are many different King Air models. The 90 is a completely different animal than the 200. I'd take a B200 or a 350 with the Proline 21 avionics suite. I'm totally confident that PMDG could pull that off. With the Proline 21 avionics done on the King Air 200 or 350, you open up doors to produce many other aircraft that use the same avionics. Piaggio, CJ1/2/3/4, KA90, Astra, Falcon 50, etc. Me thinks it would be a very good move by PMDG as the avoinics suite is the "base platform" and all you have to do is build the model and integrate the panel into the model. Could save a lot of time in getting products out the door. <shameless plug> I have quite a bit of KA time (PL21 and non PL21), so you know, I might be able to help out on the tech team </shameless plug> I don't run a FS Dev company though so I could just be rambling on about things that I have no clue about...

I dunno, iFly or whatever it is is a competitor to the 737NGX. PMDG still released their product. And the King Air isn't exactly unpopular or widely unused. It's the most popular turboprop ever built. It was mentioned earlier but Carenado is more of a "looks" company it seems like. They don't like to get into systems, which is where PMDG excels. A turboprop in FS takes a lot to make it work the way it should, and PMDG is perfect to handle the job. I don't understand everyone's fascination with the 777. I mean, I like it too but it's far down the list of the aircraft that I want for FSX. But, that's exactly why PMDG chose the 777 - everyone wants a quality one for FSX. I like flying the big iron just as much as the next guy but I sometimes feel that the business aviation aircraft aren't given a fair shake.

I agree Dan, Carenado appeals mainly to the gaming aspect of FSX whereas PMDG and a few others appeal to the serious simulation aspect, two completely different markets. Also agree that good business aircraft are in short supply in FSX. A lot of pilots flew the B200/350 before getting into the big iron. The systems in the B200/350 are somewhat complex and it would be nice to see them modeled with the PMDG touch, along with their great fligh dynamics. CheersMartin
