January 8, 200422 yr In the new downloads section (not yet on the main page) there is a new utility named Game XP FPS Fix that claims to improve FPS for FS9. Has anyone tried it? Did you get a real boost of FPS if so by how much? Is there any side effects?Nick
January 8, 200422 yr NickCheck out their forum at www.theorica.tk and I don't think you will want to try it. I hope it gets removed from the file library, at least until they fix the problems.David
January 8, 200422 yr andrew/ramsgateNick!.Tried this but have to say NO..No.. sent icons and things all over the place.Lots of probs reported on their website.I would say that (END IT ALL) is much safer and better.
January 8, 200422 yr Forget the snake oil, sit down and do a little reading and do it yourself.http://www.blackviper.com/Cheers,Frankhttp://fsgateway.com/frank/fs9paibeta.jpg
January 8, 200422 yr Looks like the program disables any services IT thinks you don't need. There are some services you can safely disable but it usually won't affect framerate much. -
January 8, 200422 yr "Forget the snake oil, sit down and do a little reading and do it yourself."Roger that, Frank. This could be downright nasty considering all the different hardware configs the sim is run on.Yikes!
January 8, 200422 yr Commercial Member Blackviper is a sweet site - doing those services tweaks there cut my boot time at least in half... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
January 8, 200422 yr I second the advice of Frank on this one. Black Viper will teach you what each service does. I would not rely on any program wher eit chooses what to disable and what to leave open.It may take work on your part, but learning about your system can be a good thing.Black Viper can provide you with knowledge to learn what and how XP runs, and more importantly why.I dod not download and try the program, but thank you to the ones who posted about the problems.Good Luck,Joe http://aboutpolitics.net/images/bannerav.gif.About Politics.net - FORUMShttp://pub162.ezboard.com/baboutpolitics.Contribute to the Richard Harvey Scholarship Fund.http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtml CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
January 8, 200422 yr Well I went over to their forums, oh boy! A lot of people not happy. I understand that this is a freeware program and we shouldn't critize those that spend their free time making FS better, however we have to draw a line somewhere when the file puts your computer on it's knees. Thanks to all you computer litterate guys for the warning!Nick
January 8, 200422 yr As always, proceed with great caution when an application does things to your computer that you don't understand. :)Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
January 8, 200422 yr Isn't it time that Avsim removes this from the library, and especially from the front page?Sherm
January 9, 200422 yr Author Why remove? People can decide for themself can't they?I made a restore point and backed up the registry. Tried it, with no side effects at all (so also no improvements ;))Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back.
