September 3, 201114 yr Author Yep. Perfect :) So, let´s see the whole configuration again: 1. Processor: i7 2600k LGA1155 3,4GHz 8MB2. Memory: 8192MB DDR3 2133MHz CL9 - to decide from CORSAIR or KINGSTON (I haven´t find it yet)3. Videocard: Asus NVidia GTX580 Matrix 1536MB DDR5 PCIE24. MB: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA1155 DDR3-32GB SATA3 USB3 GLAN (sound coming from the Mobo)5. HDD: SSD 2,5P Corsair Force Series 60GB SATA2 280MB/s for Windows 7 - 64 bits, and another HD Sata of 1 TB for FSX6. Cooler: Water Corsair Hydro Series H807. Tower: MIDITOWER CORSAIR GRAPHITE CC600T BLACK8. PSU: Corsair TXV2 850W PFCACT 12CM 80Plus-Bronze It´s ok? If I can´t find that memory, maybe 1600MHz with CL7 would be good for overclocking as well? harpsi
September 3, 201114 yr Yep. Excellent. If you can't get that RAM, look for a 1600 CL7 kit as you suggested. September 3, 201114 yr Yes. So you'll need to get 2 of whichever kit you choose. You probably wont be able to fit both fans on the ram, but 1 should be able to cover all 4 sticks Di Agron Dell XPS 15 L502X | Intel i5-2540m @ 2.60GHz | 4GB DDR3 1333MHz (2x2GB) | nVidia GT525M | Seagate 500GB 7200RPM | 15" 1366x768 | 23" LG 1360x768 | Got a hardware question? September 3, 201114 yr With the corsair kit I linked (first link) there are fan attachments for the ram (see the pic). If you buy 2 of these kits (so you have 8GB instead of 4) you'd end up with 4 ram sticks and 2 ram fans. But I think the fans are too big to fit 2 of the attachments to the sticks, so you'll only be able to use 1. September 3, 201114 yr The Corsair 2133MHz is probably better because you could keep those clocks on the ram and lower the timings like what Corey Meeks has done. Its not necessarily better to buy 2 sticks of 4. The only option I think you have is 4 sticks of 2. The only disadvantage is that you'll only be able to use one of the RAM fans instead of 2. September 3, 201114 yr Author The Corsair 2133MHz is probably better because you could keep those clocks on the ram and lower the timings like what Corey Meeks has done. But to overclock your processor, do you need to touch on the ram or everything comes automatically? Its not necessarily better to buy 2 sticks of 4. The only option I think you have is 4 sticks of 2. The only disadvantage is that you'll only be able to use one of the RAM fans instead of 2. Why 4 sticks of 2 and not 2 sticks of 4? That´s what I don´t understand, specially because a lot of opinions on this thread are going to 2 sticks of 4GB. harpsi
September 3, 201114 yr Author http://www.pixmania.com/pt/pt/10069901/art/asus/p8z68-v-pro-socket-1155-c.html And it says here that this board only supports 1600MHz and not 2133MHz. Is 1600 the maximum or the minimum? harpsi
September 3, 201114 yr These ones are 2 x 2 GB. I need modules of 4 GB, each, right? harpsiCorrect. I would stay away from 2GB modules if at all possible. Populating all four memory slots sometimes leads to memory instability and often requires more dram voltage. The Pro will support 2133MHz memory just fine - you just have to manually set it to 2133 in the bios. So, does it support 1866 and 2133? Of 1600 is maximum? harpsi
