September 6, 201114 yr I had a lot of problems with it in the beginning, but now it works for me every time. It is really immersive. My main complaints:- Handling of other planes (would be great if UT2 would work with it).- A way to request full ILS STAR approach (instead of vectors) without having to just ignore the first batch of vector instructions, then request it.- A way to reassign keyboard to control chars or to totally disable them.- That VoxATC captures the keystrokes even when FSX doesn't have focus. I've had that a few times, and opted for it so I could set myself up rather than be vectored around.- You can change the keyboard controls by using the "joystick setup" utility in your VoxATC folder. I actually changed mine, because I'll type stuff out on notepad and it was getting bad because the PTT would go on every time I touched the spacebar.- I'm not sure what you mean on the last one. I've been doing quite a few flights in a Cessna recently at night, IFR from small airport to small airport. I don't get a lot of ATC on those flights with Unicom and Center. Sometimes it works quite well, and other times like last night I never got the option to communicate with Unicom on the arrival airport and announce that I had landed and was clear of the runway. It's also annoying that I can't close my flight plan with FSS unless it's a VFR flight. I find those to be more fun. :-) Just for laughs, I tried turning on the default ATC for my night IFR flights from a small airport, and the result was "bleh". I just wish I could hear more ATC chatter in between locations, but I understand UT2 is supposed to work with v6 and utilize all of it's flight plans from arrival, departure, and everything in between (just not scheduled times). I love flying casually in a Cessna 172 to explore, plus I love to tie it all in with creative stories. Read about my latest flight story and blog here: http://starrfoxx-flys.blogspot.com/

All other airpots will be void of traffic. This makes VFR flying pretty lonely and long IFR flights will have very little if any en route traffic. Also, I'm curious about your "not having the option:" do you mean that you tried switching to unicom and couldn't or just the menu didn't tell you to? Don't feel like you can only do what the menu tells you to. In fact, I try to keep the window closed at all times and only look at it for hints on correct wording if I can't remember the correct phrase. This leads me to my previous complaint, however, which is that the program won't recognize some valid requests if you skip what it feels the next step should be.

I was really hoping there would be AI traffic in between airports with UT2. I thought that was what the UT bridge to VoxATC was for and what made it special. Otherwise, it's no different than if I were to use MyTraffic 2010 or World of AI since VoxATC will use the AI aircraft and flight plans and make it's own traffic to control. (Which isn't perfect). When I meant not having the option, I meant not seeing it in the window even if I pressed "0". I've tried some commands when the option didn't show up, and most of the time I'll get "Last aircraft say again". I'm still practicing, though. Maybe I didn't say it perfectly. I need to print out a "cheat sheet" that has all the commands that I can refer to. I love flying casually in a Cessna 172 to explore, plus I love to tie it all in with creative stories. September 6, 201114 yr You can request the full ils approach, and it works, but the first thing that happens when you are handed over is that you get vectoring instructions, you then have to acknowledge them before getting a chance to ask to not doing them at all. I can live with it, but it still nags me :) By the keyboard focus I meant that if I open an explorer on top of fsx, the vox atc keys still go to vox atc. so I can accidentally tell voxatc to do something while typing in the browser. All this is still not too bad, in general I am very happy with it. Helge Rasmussen
September 6, 201114 yr The keyboard makes sense as Vox is running outside of FSX. This is evident when pausing FSX which doesn't pause Vox. I believe it would be possible to check if FSX is not the main focus and therefore ignore inputs as other outside add ons have this ability. It's definitely something to suggest to the developer. I'm working on a list of personal issues I've found with the software for him in hopes of continued development.
September 6, 201114 yr Or change your keyboard assignments. I had to change them to keys I don't use at all like the arrow keys, because I was typing notes and instructions on notepad and I was brodcasting to ATC. One time I broadcasted one too many and I lost whatever instruction they gave me, because it "assumed" I understood and moved on. I have my PTT on my joypad button now only. Works better for me.
