September 7, 201114 yr Nick N about overclocking an I7-980 processor and Corsair GT2000 mhz memory and its timings: "Ok well what this suggests is that you are now on the right track to complete a stable clock, what remains is to find the best CPU voltage @ clock and then memory speed/timing that is stable. That does not mean running the memory @ 2000 8-9-8-24 because if that memory will run 1866 @ 7-8-7-24 it would be faster than 2000 @ 8-9-8, DDR3 1600 6-7-6-20 would be faster than both of those. September 16, 201114 yr @Word Not Allowed, since I've over the years (my god, time flies) learned to have great respect for your opinion, I take inspiration from your specs when I am now considering my new system. My question is if you would purchase a system today, would you still go for the Asus P8P67 motherboard or perhaps one based on the Z68 chipset instead? My current order list consists of: i7 2500KAsus P867 ProCorsair 8GB 1866 - the same you have, thanks for the product code! :DCorsair Cooling Hydro H80 And I will keep my Velociraptor 300 GB disk and a Samsung Spinpoint 1 TB together with the Asus ATI 5870 video card (which I guess should still be good enough for flightsimming purposes), Corsair 850W PSU and the Samsung 25,5" screen. I've been jumping back and forth between the i7 2500 and i7 2600 but went for the cheaper one in order to keep the cost somewhat down. Thanks for any comment! September 17, 201114 yr Just for the record......an i5 2500k @ 4.5Ghz plus 4x2GB Corsair DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24 RAM has no trouble running FSX with all sliders slammed to the right. September 18, 201114 yr Agree, 6GB is good with the Win 64bit. Although FSX can't use more then 4GB your system will be able to use close to the whole 4GB with some left over for mulititasking etc. Trust me it will be more stable then running with only 4GB onboard. Ken EhlersF70
