B777 Sounds - TO Ryan

Featured Replies

Hi Ryan I just purchased the B744 for FS9, and installed the sound updates from PMDG site, and they are stunning, I am not sure who your sound engineers are, but they have done a excellent job of replicating the sounds and getting the correct balances. I am currently using PSS B777 from Justflight and its quite a good product, and just wondere if you had any sound files are similar quality like the B744, I know there are a some B777 sound files out there, but I feel they don't give an accurate representation of what you hear on the Flight Deck. Thanks

PMDG Always strives to move forward in their work, think about this ; their NGX sounds were better than the updates for the 747, and the 777 I'm sure will be as good or even better than the NGX.

-it goes much deeper than that. PMDG used high quality, Microphones in both the Simulator and the real aircraft when available. The microphones are Pro quality- like an SM58 from SHURE. The Mics were used to record every little nuaince and detail that you could possible desire. Then they had a person painstakingly mix and edit them for hours and hours and hours and....well you get the point. And just when you think that was good enough, PMDG decided to let RW NG pilots verify it for accuracy. Now im pretty certain they will match or beat it with the 777.

You'd actually never want to use an SM58 for this type of thing believe it or not - the 58 is a live vocal mic, that's what it's famous for and it's tuned for that. We used small diaphragm condensers in stereo (I forget the exact model) for most of the NGX recording - much better detail and reproduction across the whole frequency spectrum vs. a dynamic mic like the 58. All fed into ProTools, Izotope etc for post processing. We're pretty lucky to have two people on this team (Armen and myself) who have a lot of audio production and recording experience as well as advisors who could assist in getting what we needed.

Hey Ryan, Perhaps I was thinking of an SM57. The 58 is a pure vocal mic with a "ball" diaprham. The 57 is a much smaller mic used for mic'ing snare drum, guitar amp( with no direct out) and even sounds pretty good on a high hat.

I hope you'll find someone in Nevada with a similar musical style to start a new project Ryan.Even if I never took it too seriously, I would have loved to find someone who shared my tastes to play with here, but then again I couldn't lack more talent and guitar skills anyway hahaI heard some of your tracks in myspace and you can certainly play man. Don't give up

Well Ryan, look what you have accomplished with regards to the project you have developed. I used your B744 for practice for job assess and was successful, I am currently A320 but will be moving next year onto B777' which I cannot wait, but nervous about jumping from a bus to the Boeing, I have forgotten how to use a trim wheel, lol.Good luck with the projects and keep up those excellent sound files.

Still no worries! You've got the best job in the world, you'll eventually find someone else even better than your last and they will want you back!
