Invalid Hardware or Driver detected After Hotfix Install!

Featured Replies

Installed the Hiotfix, and despite having an EVGA GTX 580, I get... Invalid Hardware or driver detected. This card does not meat the minimum requirements for shader support. This program requires a GeForce/Radeon 8500 class or better graphics card.FSX will now exit.

One of the problems being reported this morning can be fixed by deleting the shader folder from"C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX" I'm not sure if that will help you, but it's worth a try. Thanks to UVW for that info!

Yep, I tried that straight away Chris. No luck though, Still get it. I didn't notice others with the problem

this IS weird.look at these sections of fsx.cfg

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295.0]Mode=1920x1200x32Anisotropic=1

try removing all instances of these, yours will be different obviously (make backup) and run fsx again.there can be upto 4 of these if u tried DX10 preview, so make sure u get rid of all of them and let fsx re-detect it.

Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz @ 3.12Ghz (390x8) | 4Gb (2x2Gb) OCZ Reaper 1066Mhz @ 1040Mhz

Asus P5K-Deluxe | nVidia 295GTX 1.8Gb | Win7 64bit

Yikes...I got that error ONE time with my nvidia card a few weeks back. It resolved after restarting the PC. I thought I'd burned out my card at first. Sorry that didn't help.

Well, I just tried that. There was only one instance of my 580, but I deleted it anyway. So far, a quick test and it hasn't occured. I'll nip off and try a flight.

This error usually occurs when FSX didn't completely close down properly the last you used it , next time it happens open the task manager and make sure FSX.exe isn't listed as still running.

Cheers, Andy.

Thanks lads. Deleted the 580 entry as suggested, also rebooted. Just tried a flight from EGJJ to LOWI, and it was okay. Usefull info regarding the "not completely shutting down" issue Andy, Thanks for that. That may indeed have been the problem. Help much appreciated lads. smile.png
