Increase flaps sound volume

Featured Replies

Is there a way to increase specifically the flaps sound level somewhere in the NGX config files ? I really enjoy this sounds (wing view) and find slightly too low compare to what you hear in the real aircrfat. thank you

too much, too soon....

Well, i guess you sit closer to the wings (as along as you are not a pilot in the flight deck) and therefore the flap sounds are louder. This simulation is however from a pilot's perspective so a increase of the flap sound would be, imo, unrealistic.

the flap sounds don't play in the cockpit. PMDG made a separate sounds set for the wing views and thats what the OP is referring too.

Hello Greg, there is no "simple" fix for your request. I manually tweaked several audio files within FSX to either increase the sound or in some files decrease the sound. Specifically, I increased the "Chime" sound files for Seat Belts, and decreased the "Wind" sound files using an Audio app and manually adjusting the sound volumes to taste. I used SONAR X1c to do this, but if you don't have this program there are many others available (some freeware) that will do the job for you. Good luck. Rgds,

It's very easy to do with the sound editor, Audacity. It's free to download. You can load the sound file into Audacity and increase the volume as loud as you want; I'd suggest no more than 3 or 6 dB. Export it as a .WAV file and place it back in your original PMDG folder. Always back-up your original sounds first!

The flap sound is located here: Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Sound/PMDG/737NGX/Various/PMDG_737_FlapMovement_Ext.
