October 1, 201114 yr This may seem like a dumb question but its worth a try. I have an nvidia 580GTX graphics card worth around $500-600, currently the second in line at Nvidia behind the 590 and I do still get slightly rough edges when panning around my aircraft and I was wondering if there was anyway you can get rid or smoothen the look out. Here is what I am talking about, this is an image I took from my sim. And here is an image I found on a forum from someone using a 480GTX So what gives? He has no ragged edges yet I do and have the better G-card. Here's a pic I took earlier, not a bad one but I'm taking it at an angle, not straight on like the other two pictures. October 1, 201114 yr Turn of AA and use tri lineia. Also look on the pmdg forum about the nvidia tool which is pretty good to work with. Brent Lewis
October 1, 201114 yr Is it enabled via nvidia inspector? I run 8xSQ but you can go higher, or use combinations of MSAA (which eats fps) | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 1, 201114 yr Author I just checked out the PMDG thread and used his 8xSQ settings so I'll load up FS now and see what happens. -EDIT- What does he mean when he shows the two pictures andhe says Trilleaner filtering (not AF) and 16x ( AF )Should I have Trilinear enabled in FSX with AA off? October 1, 201114 yr Author flyerboy I have to thank you a lot for telling me about that. it seems the issue has gone now and I can actually see how great my 580 is now :) FAA Multi Commercial Pilot/Flight Instructor
October 1, 201114 yr Moderator Haztronic, glad you got it sorted, but something else to keep in mind that can also contribute to the "rough edges" is that some paint jobs, be it user paints or ones supplied by developers, dont always ship with the textures mip mapped. You can easily add mip maps using a freeware tool like DXTBmp. From my experience over the years, it's seems to be about 50/50 when you download liveries whether they come mip mapped or not. Same goes for scenery objects that seem rough or shimmery, ie some Aerosoft sceneries come to mind off the top of my head. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
