October 8, 201114 yr Hi, I'm not usually active on forums. Like many I've cashed ouy loads of money on nearly useless addons in the past but this one is so good that I felt I had to respond to this thread. Dolby Cockpit Sounds is THE addon I've been looking for during my nearly 10 years involvement in the flight simming hobby. I think the sound environment is one of the most important aspects for the sense of immersion. I'm uploading an IFly 737ng vanilla vs Dolby Cockpit Sounds-version to youtube in an hour or so. Will put link in this thread. The video will show differences on sounds at take-off, approach, spoiler action and manual braking in the IFly 737ng for FS9. I think the FSX-version should sound about the same. Thanks,TheRandomGuy
October 8, 201114 yr Hi again! Here we go FSPS Dolby Cockpit Sounds. The sounds on approach are impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoyHkkYewpc
October 8, 201114 yr Hmm, 2 posts, 1 video uploaded on youtube and proclaiming this to be the best $$$ ever spent on FS...To each their own but forgive me for being a bit skeptical... Not to mention for me I found the default iFly sounds much better and more realistic. The latter were a bit overdone and just sounded louder to me lol, I prefer the first... Thanks for taking the time to post though ;) Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Thanks for taking the time to post though ;) I might have taken this in the wrong way but I hate this "your opinion is nearly useless because you don't have more than 1-2 posts"-mentality everywhere. This reminds me of why I in general stay away from message boards. Anyhow, along with IFly 737NG and its accompanying FS2Crew this addon makes my experience so much more fun and immersive and I just wanted to give people a preview of the sounds. I've looked for ages for an addon or sound package that could mimic how the sound react depending on flap/spoiler position and to this date I've never found anything remotely realistic. Many addons are worth their $$$ but as I value a realistic sound environment above all else this one really hit my sweet spot and therefore I got excited about it. Of course, if you don't feel the sound experience in the sim lacking, just walk away, nothing to be seen really :) Also, in the video the software was put on max volume, there are different settings to fiddle around with to make the experience more subtle. In the end, this addon will be utterly useless for people already happy with their sound environment in the sim :)
October 8, 201114 yr I am neither an expert in sounds nor do I think I am definitely right in what I state here in the forum. Plus I respect everyone's opinion.Having said that I would like to tell you that listening to the sounds in this video I had an impression of having my ears inside of an engine.Very much UNLIKE the realistic sounds in the cockpit I am used to. I personally have no idea how this could be the best spent $$$ or THE addon.Unless this video is misleading about what the effects really are like.

It's funny how you say that you respect everyones opinion and at the same time say that you haven't got the slightest idea how I can think this is "THE addon I've been looking for". As I clearly state "THE addon I've been looking for", this isn't applicable on everybodey else, this is my opinion and obviously you're not cool with it. I tried to be helpful by spending, no wait, wasting two hours creating and editing a video (yes it took me that long as I'm not usually making videos). The only reason I did this was that when I googled around trying to find some sort of review/preview of the software, this forum thread on AVSIM came up with people looking for the same thing. Anyway I ended up buying it and because I liked it I wanted to show it to other people contemplating buying it just as I did. And still, the sound effects are as I said on maximum possible volume to somehow be able to distinguish between the stock IFly sound and the software generated sounds. You can make it as loud or silent and subtle you'd like it to be. I understand you guys though, dubious poster shows up and spreading words about how marvelous an addon is. You see, this wasn't really my intention and I'm really sorry if my first post is misleading anyone to buy this stuff for the wrong reason. As I said and as Psolk implied, this addon won't do you an good if you are already happy with how your flight sim sounds. I will just remove the youtube link and stay clear of this forum for everyones sake. It's funny how everytime I try to be helpful it only causes me grief, I give up. Happy flight simming everyone!

As I clearly state "THE addon I've been looking for", this isn't applicable on everybodey else, this is my opinion and obviously you're not cool with it.But this is exactly what respecting others' opinions is when we talk about discussions! I have used the kindest words I could find to tell you I have quite a different view on the stuff you presented here.Do not expect to present something to people in a discussion forum like this and have them all love your idea or share your excitement. We all have our own experience and opinions. Sometimes people are rude to others, insult them or call them names. Such behaviours are fortunately not tolerated here. But all you seem to dislike here is Paul's or my different opinions about something you got excited about. We did not buy it. We just listened to the sounds in your video and gave our opinions. Would you like to have people either agree with you or stay quiet? to somehow be able to distinguish between the stock IFly sound and the software generated soundsI have been using iFly since it came out and love its sounds. There were many guys in the iFly forum stating they found better sounds, some free and some paid (I won't name the developers), but to many of us these sounds seemed very unrealistic from the cockpit perspective. Something like in this video. I don't remember anyone being angry with that fact. I will just remove the youtube link and stay clear of this forumWhy are you so emotional about it? You are really welcome here. You can present any opinion you wish and it will always be appreciated.Just do accept other points of view. It's a flightsim discussion forum. A very good one, I think.
October 8, 201114 yr Author I haven't seen the you tube video. For some reason it won't come up on my iPad. I do not use the I fly 737 or the PMDG aircraft so can't say how it is with them. I have the dream fleet 727, Aerosim dc-8, Pss 757 and CLS a300 this software works great with them. I'm with Random in regards to opinions made regarding post count. I've been around this hobby for a very long time. Before Avsim. I have contributed with some freeware. I helped start a virtual Airline that has been around for 12 years. I haven't done the VA thing in a long time. I don't post much because of the arrogance seen in posts. Just because one has 12,000 posts doesn't mean they are better than the next.Back to this software, I like it. The thing random didn't mention was it is fully customizable. You can pick the speaker you want the sound to come out of. You can adjust the volume to what you like for each individual sound. Not bad being able to pick each individuals sound volume and direction. There is some room for improvement bit overall it is pretty good. Runs outside of fs9 and connects thru fsuipc. As I mentioned above it's a little pricey for what you get but it isn't bad.
October 8, 201114 yr Just because one has 12,000 posts doesn't mean they are better than the nextI believe everybody here agrees with that and I would be shocked to see someone really thinking like that.
October 8, 201114 yr Well said Rafal, thank you... No one was personally insulting anyone or saying that because someone has more posts they are better. But there has to be an ounce of skepticism when a brand new poster who has not contributed in the past all of a sudden posts about the best thing to happen to FS... Unfortunately believe it or not developers have been know to register under new screen names only to declare their product the best thing since sliced bread... Not saying that is what you did but it is natural to be skeptical. To be honest, yes I would put more trust in the word of someone who I know and has been contributing here for a while as most of us tend to learn what other people like... So if Chock or Rafal says something it carries more weight for me than someone I have never heard from before. Seems logical to me. So yes, there is a bit of skepticism, nothing more and while I appreciate you taking the time to make the video if anything for me it highlighted that it is not for me... Again, nothing more or anything deeper than that. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 8, 201114 yr Author Raf, it's happened more than you think. I remember six or so years ago an Avsim moderator pulled that on me. In this post somebody did that to random guy. It's a very small community people shouldn't do things to drive people away. I can remember when the PFG forum was the most frequented forum on AVSIM. Hardly any of those members ever post here anymore. If someones life is based on post counts then they have my sympathy.
October 8, 201114 yr Jeff, I did it and I explained my reasons why... Well said Rafal, thank you... Again, nothing more or anything deeper than that. Yes, someone who has never posted before all of a sudden posting about the best new payware product out there is skeptical and raised my spidey senses... Someone never posting before and posting a question or the solution to someone problems is not the same as someone's first post being about a new payware product... I am entitled to my opinion as well and what I am saying is not a sign of disrespect, it is common sense. Wouldn't you put more weight in advice from someone you knew for years opposed to someone you met for the first time, especially if that person you never met is telling you about the best thing ever? Sorry if I offended anyone, I stand by what I said and think it makes perfect sense. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 8, 201114 yr Author P, I can understand your skepticism. No worries. The problem is when posting on the Internet or texting on a phone, The body language is taken out of the conversation. It easier to misinterpret than in a face to face or phone conversation where your voice reflects your emotion. I'm sure you didn't mean to offend anybody. This is just software for a game, hobby we all enjoy. Things I like you might not. Life would sure be boring if everybody was the same :)
October 8, 201114 yr Author P, years ago I called this a video game and you should have seen the uproar. Caused a whole debate/argument over if Flight Sim was a Video game or a Simulator :). People were getting all bent out of shape on that one, lol. There were some real characters then. One guy threatened to quit every time somebody posted something he didn't agree with. He would pull all his freeware off the site. I think he's still around :)

Almost as much fun as the OOM errors are caused by page file discussions LMAO! Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
