A36 performance in FSX

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have performance issues with this release? Up to now, Carenado planes have all been easy on the framerates and very smooth on my system.. I noticed the slightly stuttering Aspen gauge and checked my framerates.. not good! On my system 20 fps out of 30 fps locked. Edit: OK - relief, if I push the Map button which removes the moving mapon the HSI, I get my frames back..

I've settled on a decluttered HSI and the tapes turned off in the PDF. It looks better and it performs (a lot) better.. Now to find the variables that will allow me to set this as the default.

Bert

Hi Bert,I found something absolutely weired regarding the performance of the VC: 1.) I turn off MAP mode completely and I have 5 Frames more performance from 20 to 25 frames (you have enough MAPs to display via the GNS 430 LOL.gif) now here it comes: 2.) After that I turn the ASPEN OFF via the red button upper right and then again ON ... then I have FULL frames without any loss and stutterfree! ( in my case 30 FPS locked again and STAYS there!!!) Worried.gif That is spookey if you ask me!

Best regards,

Good observation on the performance.I always had her running in the decluttered map view (e. g. no intersections) and also in some rather light scenery, but the map detail with 2 out of 4 notches is ok so far even in denser Orbx sceneries.

I get best performance if I turn off the moving map and the speed and altitude tapes alltogether. You can change the defaults so that the airplane starts up this way (you still have the abilityto turn it back on, as usual) It would have been nice if both settings could be set in the config gauge, but one is in the EFD gauge itself.. Make a subfolder to your Gauges folder and call it EFD1000_A36 Unzip the EFD1000_A36.cab file (in the Gauges folder) into this new folder With Notepad, make the following changes to the xml files in the new folder In the EFD1000Config.xml gauge, set 1 (>L:360 Map Range, number) 1 (>L:ARC Map Range, number) instead of the four lines that are there now In the EFD1000_PFD.xml gauge, set 0 (>L:TPS Visible, bool) in the Init section If you want to return to the Carenado defaults, just rename or delete your EFD1000_A36 folder.

Bert, do you know the trick on how to alter the temp display of the EFD1000? It shows ISA temps only.

In the EFD1000_PFD code: <GaugeString>\{fnt1}OAT \{fnt}%((A:STANDARD ATM TEMPERATURE,celsius))%!2d!°\{fnt1} c</GaugeString> try changing that to: (A:AMBIENT TEMPERATURE,celsius)

BTW, although this seems to work, the analog OAT gauge is not correct at lower temperatures... another bug? (if I switch to the F33, the analog OAT gauge shows -15C in this case)

Bert

Bert, I will test that xml code soon, but thanks again for your work. smile.png On the analogue gauge, I haven't tested it at very low temps, but the positive on the ground ones looked ok so far. I will test it again if time allows.Edited. When looking at my previous screenshots, I commanded some 35C in FSX and got 38 to 40 on the analogue, so maybe this supports your findings.

First of all, Bert, you are the man! That small xml tweak on the EFD gave me my OAT display. Thanks! Now regarding your observation on the low temp gauge error, you were true too. Seems like the analogue A36 OAT gauge is reading with an offset. I've loaded a default FSX plane with the G1000 to give me these -13C.g1000.jpgThen I've loaded the A36 in the same (fixed) FSX weather conditions, no ASE or anything else running.a36fh.jpgThe EFD1000 now is correct (thanks to your tweak), but the analogue gauge develops an offset. It's not tweak related in my eyes, since we haven't touched the analogue gauge at all. Here's the F33 Bonanza loaded in the very same conditions.f33s.jpg

I'd say that in theory, we could exchange the gauges from the F33 over to the A36. But I haven't tried that one.

I have also performance issues. Too bad with PMDG 737 ngx I have my full 30frames locked, and in this.. sometimes it goes to 13. hidding the map gives me maybe 18-21 with stutters. I hope Carenado work in this to make a better performance.. becuase the plane is great and I woundn´t like to miss this one

That's really strange, I'm quite happy with the performance so far.Did you already try Bert's other tweaks, like the disabled speed and altitude readout on the PFD?Do you use the Carenado GPS or the RXP stuff? Maybe that's a factor too. If one would use the Carenado GPS in the VC and in the popup view, he receives four independent GPS gauges for example.
