October 18, 201114 yr Today I planned a flight form Luton to Schiphol, landing on rw 27 . ILS : 27STAR : REDF1Transition : SUGOL Passing SPL I need to make a wide turn at 376 WP , come back at 376 WP and do the approach. When programming the route in the FMC there is no wide turn, but an almost 175 degree angle. What do I need to do to make this work ? October 18, 201114 yr If FMC procedure does not contain the Procedure Turn:Before entering the procedure turn you can go to HDG mode.Fly the teardrop in HDG mode using the correct approach category pattern.Time your outbound .. 1 minute.Turn 180 HDG mode.Intercept the LOC ... APR mode armed. Now you are inbound LOC. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 18, 201114 yr Hi Gsalden, you could disconnect the AP and fly by hand or have it on Heading mode, and fly as the plate states a cat C a/c which the 737 is, you will fly towards at 113 degrees and over the SPL VOR passing at FL70 descenting till 3000' towards lctr WP 376 on heading 093, when passing the lctr turn right 141 and start your decent towards 2000' which is you final app altitude and time 1 min outbound then make a rate one turn left and intercept final app course of 268, :) Arm the APP button and intercept the LOC. The picture at your app plate tells you what to do ;) I hope that helped a bit. :) //Jakob 737 CL/NG skysurfer
October 18, 201114 yr The procedure turn is normally not used. Normally, aircraft will be vectored from SUGOL to about 5 miles north of WP. You could add such a waypoint in the FMC. After crossing that waypoint, turn right heading 180 and intercept the localizer on a heading of about 240. Marc
October 18, 201114 yr Well Voske, if your're a pilot student, you'll use the procedure turn. ;-) and what the plate States. But yes normally it's just on vectoring, it's the simplest way. ;-) Takes workload of the flight Crew. :-) 737 CL/NG skysurfer
