Adobe reader X converted air files?

Featured Replies

I have just installed adobe reader x and it has converted all my aircraft air files into (well it reads) installer packege files.Ive tested a couple of aircraft and all seams OK.Why has it done this? Do I need to convert them back to original even though all seams OKThanks for the help Steve

Acrobat 10 confuses FS air files with the Adobe Air (Adobe integrated Runtime) system, it won't actually have altered anything on the file (you'd haver to open them and save them to do that), all it has done is made the association with the FS air files be Adobe's AIR and given them an icon because of that in the same way that PSD files might get a Photoshop icon if your system associates Photoshop as being the application which opens them. So no, you don't have to do anything. More info on Air: http://en.wikipedia....egrated_Runtime Al

Thanks for the quick reply Al. Can I uninstall this adobe air or will that cause problems now that the icon has changed?Steve

Nope, it won´t change anything at all. I also have the icon changes and haven´t had any problem with that.

Best regards, Steffen

It's easiest just to leave it - you need the Acrobat reader for so many documents, and the icon won't hurt a thing. This has been a pain for a while now - especially since nobody actually uses the Adobe air files format except Adobe. People were freaking out all over the FS internet forums when this first started several years ago... DJ

Thanks for all your replies and advice. Ill leave well alone then. Steve

Download "Air ed" and and assign it for the airfiles. This was discussed on simflight some time ago.Adobe Air seems to be the equivalent of ms net framework.Personally I cant stand adobe and use foxit reader for pdfs. Its quicker and less resource hungry. The only good thing about adobe is photoshop!
