October 19, 201114 yr They won't set! At least not consistently. I went to great trouble to set up a flight using the supplied Cold and Dark panel state, ensured no failures current (failures are turned off) went through Tom Risager's tut followed it to the letter saved a flight ready for takeoff on the runway with parking brakes set properly. Exit FSX come back the next day to resume my saved flight load it bingo the parking brakes don't set! It may be interference from my FS pedals but the 737 NGX is the only aircraft to give brake problems. I've read the numerous posts on brake issues and the various fixes suggested which I have followed but to no apparent effect. Any other suggestions on how to fix brake issues in the NGX would be appreciated. Thanks Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." October 19, 201114 yr I don't know what you have seen so far, but check your FMC to see if the wheel chocks are set. Jeff Johnson (RWS)
October 19, 201114 yr Sound like they have a major brakes, parking break bug they need to address asap. You can see all my posts on this issue if you like. I wish I could help you but at the current time I am mired in problems with this aircraft. To be fair I am also mired in ad dons trying to make them all work together and have never had a worst time of it in 10 years of flight simming. Dont use saved flights or panel states unless it is a non saved flight and cold and dark, otherwise you will have problems if you are like me. Marc Lynn
October 19, 201114 yr Sorry you're having problems but I believe this is a case by case situation. I have an older system and I fly a circuit; KLAX to KFSO to KLAS to KSLC to KDEN to KABQ to KPHX and back to KLAX. These are nice short flights I use to hone my 737 skill set as I study the, extensive, manuals. At the end of each flight I do a complete, cold-n-dark shutdown and save the flight as my default this way it keeps my flight circuit running. I don't have any issues.Occasionally the system won't exit to the FSX intro page, crashing on FSX exit. This caused the default flight to not save. I then edit the fsx.cfg file and change the default flight to the one I want. Jeff Johnson (RWS)

I thought I had it sorted with a fresh cold and dark panel no failures (but failures turned off an way), set everything by the book, take off checks complete parking brake set normally save flight. Come back the next day load flight parking brake wont set agghhh! Tried this a couple of times and paradoxically sometimes after several goes the parking brake does set. Not sure if it is related but I have a similar problem with the autopilot - a saved flight with no issues when reloaded the autoplot doesn't go on, the cmd button light flashes very briefly but the autopilot doesn't set. Then, as with the parking brake, sometimes multiple presses of the cmd button will kick the autopilot into life! Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." October 19, 201114 yr FWIW, operators don't leave the parking brake set when leaving the aircraft. Once the chocks are in place, before the APU is shut off the parking brake is released. So if your showing it not set when you get in and in the cold and dark state that is what you would see in the real world. ------------- john croft
October 20, 201114 yr As posted in other threads. 1) Do not push back with FSX. - Use the FMC to first remove the chocks and then push back. 2) Do not slew around the airport with your chocks on or try to push back with your chocks on as this will cause an brake failure whether you have failures on or not.
