Zoom Disappeared

Recommended Posts

For some reason, using the +/- key to zoom in/out does not work now. Don't have a clue why, probably gremlins as some other wierd things have happened.I have looked through the assignments pages and tried a few things, but cannot seem to find a key assignment to get the function back. Tried all the obvious wordings etc to no avail. I presume that there is some way to get the function back short of a reload.I usually use the zoom in the external view to check out the details of the operation of the surfaces but have also used it inside to adjust the panel view.Any help?

I used to get this problem sometimes, but only in full screen mode.I recall switching to windowed mode then back to fullscreen, and the zoom function returned. For some reason it doesnt happen any more.PS.Do you use active camera?

Sometimes a window like the kneeboard or a secondary top-down view can steal the main window's focus, generally all you have to do is click once in the main view and the zoom function will start working again. If your key assignment is truly AWOL, don't reload FS9, just delete the FS9.cfg and let the sim build a new one. Oddly enough reinstalling the sim won't help for issues with control assignments (and many other things) because those are all stored in the FS9.cfg and that doesn't get replaced with a normal reinstall. There should be an option in Start Menu > FS2004 > Troubleshooting to "Reset defaults". This option simply deletes the FS9.cfg so the sim can rebuild a new one. Be warned though that you'll have to go through setting everything up again, including any control assignments you may have changed, all your display settings, any custom tweaks you've made directly to the FS9.cfg, etc. It'll revert back to the way it was the first time you ran the sim, so use it as a last resort and make a backup of the FS9.cfg before you delete it.Jim

As Jim stated, this is usually a case of "lost focus".You can check in your FS9.cfg for...[KEYBOARD_MAIN]SELECT_1=49,8SELECT_2=50,8SELECT_3=51,8SELECT_4=52,8MINUS=189,8PLUS=187,8The minus and plus lines are what you are looking for.regards,Joe

I learned recently on one of the forums that hitting the Backspace key will fix it. And it does!Regards,JerryH
