March 24, 201214 yr LINDA ??? GUI... Do I need that also?I guess I'll be busy but I'm looking forward to it!Thanks alot majapahitYou don't need Linda. It's the means of assigning lots of custom controls to a custom hardware. Like assigning a turn-knob to a MCP hardware, or an overhead etc... If you have normal hardware, like a joystick, yoke, throttle quads, you don't really need Linda, as you can assign everything Linda can in the FSUIPC.But, the Linda gives you a really nice interface to assign everything, and easy to that.I still prefer FSUIPC for me, as I don't like running Linda in the background, and for some reason, sometimes my reversers for instance go nuts with Linda, while with FSUIPC it never happens. If I ever need it for some custom functions, I can always install it...
March 24, 201214 yr Do you have a link for profiles I can use for the Pro Flight System?LINDA specifically provides GUI for- all FSX default 'control' codes (see FSuipc docs for list)- any key press to button- NO axis, though- PMDG codes, i.c. all NGX, many 747, many J41- iFLY 737- more, but limited, list of A/C, or find your own Variables with LUA's Trace facility (and post in forum)- VRinsight hardware, i.c. MCP Combo & instruments, etc- to Joystick Button (I have 2 attached, but can be a dozen or so)- interface to FSuipc Macro & LUA / very important facility, does my 737 NGX Gear lever- write you own Any LUA- can provide complex sequential commands, if you put it in a fsuipc macro, or a Lua codeetcall my axis are through Fsuipc regular interfacei used to delete everything in FSX 'controls', BUT the POVs, (and backup the Standard.XMLfound in .. ProgramDataMicrosoftFSX) because you have to assign 8 commands for that, untilof course, i found time to do that, and then backed up that portion of fsuipc.ini,in case of any mishaps -looks like://(joystick J)210=RJ,32,C65734,0211=RJ,33,C65856,0212=RJ,34,C65672,0213=RJ,35,C65857,0214=RJ,36,C65735,0215=RJ,37,C65855,0216=RJ,38,C65671,0217=RJ,39,C65854,0//(joystick Y)590=RY,32,C65734,0591=RY,33,C65856,0592=RY,34,C65672,0593=RY,35,C65857,0594=RY,36,C65735,0595=RY,37,C65855,0596=RY,38,C65671,0597=RY,39,C65854,0(line#, R(epeat), Joystick Y, button 39, C(ontrol) 65854, parameter 0)fsuipc.ini, just like fsx.cfg, rarely (like in once every 2 years)gets a mysterious bad file write& than you have to generate a new one from scratchbecause it’s a hidden EOF error somewhere2cts Intel 2500K | AMD 7970 | Win7x64 | 16GB | TV 40" | Touchscreen 22" | HOTAS | Rudder | MCP | FFB Joystick | FSX-SE | Prepar3D | DSC A10
March 24, 201214 yr Here is a tutorial for FSUIPC that mentions profiles on page 13.http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/SIMSAMURAI+FSUIPC+TUTORIAL.pdfHe is talking in the tutorial, about setting profiles for aircraft types, like "Four Engine Jets" or "Single Engine Prop". This is ok too, but I like to set profiles for specific aircrafts, like the NGX, then activate the profile for each livery of that sim, as I use them. The reason that I do it this way is because each sim has its own best button profiles that I like to have on each profile. Also some things, like my Saitek Cessna trim wheel, don't work on the NGX (*sad), but work fine on the PIC737, so I wouldn't want to have the same profile for both. Robert Yunque
March 24, 201214 yr this is sounding more and more than what I sign up for. I am not a programmer by any means and I have everything working now through FSX.To delete that and start from scratch using FSUIPC seems redundant at best. But i am one to take on a challenge so I will download and try it.I think I will start like you all suggested and work just with the C172, start small and then go from there. Before I download and delete anything this will work with the PMDG 737/MD11/747 A/C ? but I like to set profiles for specific aircrafts, like the NGX, then activate the profile for each livery of that sim, as I use them. Will I have to reassign them to use FS9?
March 24, 201214 yr Will I have to reassign them to use FS9?FS9 has its own separate version of FSUIPC (purchase separately also), so you will have to set everything up for it separate. It works the same way with profiles. Just go into the FSUIPC.ini and change "profiles=No" to "profiles=Yes" and you will see the profiles option within FS9's FSUIPC control panel. Robert Yunque
March 24, 201214 yr Will I have to reassign them to use FS9?LINDA doesnt work with FS9so that solves that dillemma :Pig:fsuipc.ini is in the FXS/modules folderso for FS9, that will be in the different FS9/modules folder(the syntax, overall, will be the same, i guess)editPMDG 737/MD11/747 A/C:Linda specifically is great with NGX, because it has a ton of parameters (every button, every system switch)many for MD11, somewhat less for 747, because their design gets simpler & simpler(and still is a cut above most any other)(on the NGX, I have the rocker underneath the Throttles assigned to open/cut Fuel, as per starting and ending procedure of Jet operation in Push & Start, and Shutdown Procedure after Parking Brake Set, at the gate)FS9 737, as I remember was a very nice setup, with any mouse toggle assignable to button operation through FSuipc macros Intel 2500K | AMD 7970 | Win7x64 | 16GB | TV 40" | Touchscreen 22" | HOTAS | Rudder | MCP | FFB Joystick | FSX-SE | Prepar3D | DSC A10
March 24, 201214 yr is is sounding more and more than what I sign up for. I am not a programmer by any meansFSUIPC is not hard to learn at all. Once you set up a couple of aircraft, you can set one up in minutes. I wouldn't mess with Linda (for one thing I'm married) unless you are a cockpit builder. FSUIPC is no more complicated than assigning the joystick in FSX, in fact it is much easier because once you have an aircraft setup, you can jump in a different one without having to go back in Options>Settings. Your preferrences will automatically load with every aircraft or helicopter. It makes life so much easier. Robert Yunque
