December 2, 201114 yr Looking into this - it's nothing we've ever seen ourselves though - I just flew a bunch over water and couldn't replicate it. Is there a totally reproducible situation where this always occurs for any of you?Hi Ryan, did you tried the files I sent? Were you able to replicate the problem?About the saved flight I sent you, each time I load it I have all 3 red LG lights on, cycling the LG lever UP then OFF will solve it, is it normal? Regards Andrea Daviero

December 8, 201114 yr Apart from this apparent issue, I normally only activate the Terrain display when climbing out of or descending into mountainous areas. When on cruise altitude wouldn't it be a common procedure to turn off the Terrain display?Don't know how real pilots handle this but it doesn't sound logical to keep Terrain on while on cruise. If I'm not mistaken, most airlines' SOPs do state to deactivate the Terrain Display after initial climbout. This is also recommended because you can't use Weather Radar and Terrain Display at the same time (on the same screen of course, you can have the WX radar displayed on the FO's side, and the Terrain Display on the Captain's side.).At cruise, it's a lot more useful to have information about the clouds you're heading at, than the mountains 20000 feet below you. December 8, 201114 yr Commercial Member Peaks mode is meant for use in cruise though - it's always good to maintain situational awareness with respect to terrain. Imagine you had to make an emergency descent after a decompression in IMC over really high mountainous terrain like the Alps - having that peaks mode would be extremely useful for making sure you weren't diving straight toward some cumulus-granite.
