November 1, 201114 yr Let's say I am on an ILS approach already on the glidepath; now I have to change heading for whatever security reason. Do rw pilots this with handflying? I tried to engage heading mode but this didn't work; is it correct that the FD stays in app mode as long as the AP is engaged? Thanks Peter Meinel Peter Win10/64/32,0GB, [email protected], Gigabyte 1080ti, P3Dv5.1
November 1, 201114 yr It is probably a good idea to set the heading bug to the runway heading as well as have the course set to the ILS app course... particularly when executing a go-around...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
November 1, 201114 yr You can only exit APP-mode by disengaging AP AND resetting both FDs, redial the ILS Frequencies or press the TOGA Button... Regards, Chris Volle i7700k @ 4,7, 32gb ram, Win10, MSI GTX1070.
November 1, 201114 yr If it was for a safety reason, you'd probably do it hand-flown, initially and the pilot not flying would take care of the rest.RW, we do a procedure called PRM where two planes fly on close parallel approaches. If one jet blunders into the other's path, it is hand flown. Matt Cee
