Long story short, I can't tell a difference in performance when using networked programs on my laptop. I do, however, love being able to run FSX in full screen while still being able to check weather, charts, etc. Sometimes I'm too lazy to go to my flight bag to get out my laptop. That's how little a difference it makes Yawn.gif

Full screen except in cruise. I am not staring at my screen for hours long... usually big ironing.

Second PC is the way to go. Just makes things so much the better. But get a third monitor and stick that on the second PC, you will be amazed as to how quick you can fill all that real; estate up. Link the two machines together as a network, win7 will sort all that out and then get the ultimate piece of freeware.Input Director http://www.inputdirector.com/ this amazing freeware allows you to run as many networked PC's and monitors as you want with just one mouse and one keyboard. rarely does something make me say "WOW" outloud, but Input Director did when I first came across it. Everybody that I have introduced to Input Director has said the same, "WOW".Anyway thats my 5 cents worth.WycliffeI have no affiliation with the creator and developer of Input director I am an end user and receive no financial reward for passing on the information about this outstanding piece of software.

Thanks to you guys i have got it all to work. I installed Aivlasoft EFB and ActiveSky 2012 on my XP Pro computer and i works like a charm!!! I never had less stutters on my approaches and my fps isn't dropping that much more. I get about 20 fps i big airports like Aerosoft EHAM EDDF ect. (This is without any AI)But the best part is that it runs smooth. Now i just need to get Squawkbox to work wtih the 2 computers. That seems to be a bigger puzzle, especially if i want it to work with my yoke.

I just wanted to add something here too:Zach said, no difference. I'll have to disagree here, it's all the difference in the world performance concerning: FSX is way smoother, even on machine such as mine, considering EFB is a monster-software, actually takes quite many cycles from the CPU, especially if using moving map with lots of navaids and airports displayed. Running SB4? Sure no difference with that one. AS2012 might also cause stutters in on the same computer.I outsourced everything to the laptop.Good to know you got it to work.SB4 should seamlessly work. Here it does. I think thought that it needs WideFS running - I always run it before I run anything else.

How powerful of a laptop is neccesary?

Ben, I am quite happy with 2GB Windows 7x64 with T7500 dual core. I was not happy with single core Celeron 1GB RAM. Maybe that helps.

My laptop has similar specs. I'll work on setting WideFS up tomorrow and get the network configured properly.

This might help you on your quest:http://support.hifit.../Article/View/6The prerequisite is of course correct networking setup.

Thx for the great tip morganbass on inputdirector. I can have up to four computers running at one time. Currently I use a KLM switchbox but this may be more flexible. Will read up on it. Wonder if you can switch a display that is shared among two PC's? Clutch
