January 30, 200422 yr The basic instructions on that bulletin was to check the Hide All MS Services or something like that to avoid not loading possible critical services, etc. Has anyone tried disabling all services? Is it time to reformat after this move??!!Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. January 31, 200422 yr Author Interesting idea and I could not resist trying this:1. Using a third party application I created another bootable snapshot and booted to it. Didn't want to destroy my day-to-day OS.2. I disabled all services, but one. RPC was not easily disabled and thus this was the only one enabled.3. I booted the system and it booted to the desktop. The Windows XP "Please Wait..." screen paused for about 2 minutes before continuing. Measured, my system will typically take 16-18s to boot, depending on what is in prefetch. DHCP Client service was the culprit for the delay.4. The desktop was functionally and FS2004 did run. The desktop was without windows "themes" and network support.5. I booted back to my day-to-day build and removed the "test" snapshot.-Todd -Todd
